Guest guest
Just got this by email wow Will have to thinkcourse it isn;t free. i been gettin gthat all day Its pay ...Not free:) this stuff really gets to people. Dear Dr. Antonucci: My name is XXXx. I am an Internist in (town close by )and have been for 22 years. I will be closing my practice in July ( secret for now) and was very impressed to see the article in the paper today.(mostly I read the OBITS and do the crossword puzzle. I'm not really sure what an Ideal practice set up is but it sounds alot like when I first came to Maine in 1989 and set up my own Solo practice. Needless to say I became an employee and it seems the business aspects have gone down hill but never the relationships I have created. So why am I writing?? I like the idea of free medical care..If there is some way I may be helpful in your Free care day I would be glad to help. Please write and let me know XXx Rock on both and Jean. Guest guest
and , if you see a new patient on that day/week, who has no insurance or cant pay, do you keep them on as patients following that free visit? Our county med society established a program for pts who cant pay. It is supported by volunteer physicains who agree to take on a specific # of pts who will not be expected/are unable to pay. The pharmacies and hospitals in town also agree to provide tests and meds (limited formulary). Between that organization and the local free clinic run by the Catholic church (also staffed by volunteer providers), there is a safety net here in Topeka, KS. It is really easier for these pts to find care than medicaid pts (not eligible for the free care options) when so few medical practices are accepting medicaid nowdays. lia, Can you elaborate? Guest guest
Ron,If they choose to continue to see me after the PWYC Day/Week is over, then I guess I keep them. Guest guest
and , Thanks for such a great idea! I'm going to see if I can use this to jump start my practice. I think it's great. I have a cash discount in place to help the self-payers. However, new patient visits are usually the most expensive. This sounds like good way to encourage them to come in. Guest guest
Cheryl,Go for it! If nothing else, I think it could be a great marketing tool. Here is a link to a local newspaper article announcing our event:http://www.pasadenastarnews.com/ci_17786567Still, I wish they didn't call it "free medical services" in the headline. Guest guest
, Thanks for the link. It will help me explain the intent of "Pay what you can day". As I have extended appointment slots, I am thinking I will probably do it for a week. That should have the most benefit for the community and maximize exposure for me.
