Guest guest
Thanks! I do workout first thing in the morning (before I eat anything), but I typically don't eat for about an hour after I finish. Is that too long to wait? > > Please excuse my amateur questions...I just started BFL on Monday. > > I would really appreciate any advice! Guest guest
Hi (sorry, what was your name again???) You will hear a ton of conflicting advice on this topic. Here's the basic breakdown: BFL says to always wait an hour after working out to eat a meal. The theory behind this is that you will replenish glycogen depleted during your workout by dipping into your bodyfat stores. That said, your body needs fuel after a weight workout, so if you are going to eat right away after a workout, the best workouts to do that after are the weight workouts. Best to wait an hour after cardio. BUT.... don't get too caught up in all the details of when/where to eat. Here's the breakdown: ideally you workout 1st thing in the morning. If you have time to wait an hour after your workout to eat, then wait. If you don't have the time to wait an hour, it's more important to eat something than to skip a meal. Make sense? Also, on the working out 1st thing in the morning, yes it's ideal but not set in stone. There are TONS of people who have worked out in the afternoon or evenings for months or even years and have had phenomenal results. The main advantage to working out 1st thing in the morning is really that you are more likely to get it done. If you wait until later in the day, things sometimes (or in some cases *most* of the time) come up that get in the way of getting that workout in. The most important thing is DOING it, not when it gets done. Jen B. > Please excuse my amateur questions...I just started BFL on Monday. > I would really appreciate any advice! Guest guest
If this is your first time starting BFL, I would do it by the book. There is no need to tweak when you haven't even created a baseline to start from. Someone could say " post-workout shake " and this and that, but then so much can come into play and create confusion and complication. I'd just do the book for now, and the book says to wait an hour.
