Janet -I am pretty new at this game also, I was diagnosed about 3-4 months ago and at that time the Dr. wasn't sure, he said lets just watch it a while. Even though the ERCP showed partial blockage of the bile ducts, the liver biopsy was just inflammation he said, so after that I got my hopes up but only to fall again. I had been itching severely for 5-6 months but did not mention it to my gastroenterologist because my family physician said it was allergies. Finally after taking antihistamines for several months and only getting worse he called the gastroenterologist and they decided that was the deciding factor. I have had stomach trouble for years, never diagnosed as ulcerative colitis but haven't been able to eat many things for about 9-10 years, have to choose my diet very carefully. I am still depressed and weepy about this but I try to remember I am 68 years old, have raised my 2 daughters, have 5 grandchildren and so I am very thankful for that however it is hard to accept at any age. Things are so uncertain, they can't predict how long this can go on or how it may end but some I have talked to have gone on for several years. We are all different and the Dr's tell us all something different. My only recipe for fatigue is 2 hrs rest each afternoon, water therapy for arthritis 2 x week, 1-2 can of Boost daily, a good Multivitamin with minerals and lots of prayer. A good friend or family member to share your load, that is the hard part for me as I have a hard time talking about it to my family.
