Guest guest
You're story sounds amazingly similar to mine. I'm on Hydroxyzine which is a antihistame, Pamelor which is Nortriptylene and am having Bio-Feedback. I tried the calcium citrate for oxalates and it didn't seem to help much. But then again, because I'm trying stuff together, it's hard to tell. I think the Pamelor helped me more than anything else so far. My pelvic muscles are now strong and pretty good in relaxation and I'm still burning today. I think stress contributes. I've had a stressful couple of days and now I'm burning. Plus I have a yeast infection for which I was given Diflucan. After I took the Diflucan on Friday my burning got better, now today it's back. It would seem to indicate that the Diflucan helped, but I think it's coincidence as my burning has mysteriously come and gone for the last year and 3 months. I'm as confused as you, but rest assured you're not the only one trying a multitude of things at once. I would like to try the calcium again, but I'm already constipated from the Pamelor and am afraid I'd never be able to go. Magnesium makes me ill - can't take it. Hang in there. Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you know how my dr appointment went today. I have CONSTANT burning that was doing somewhat better until I got my period last week. With every period during this problem I get a rash and my pelvic floor muscles ache and throb. My doctor who is a member of the pelvic pain society has heard good things about antihistamines for vv, so he gave me a prescription for Atarax (sp?). He also upped my Elavil to 30 mg a day. I am trying to cover a lot of the theories at once. I had my urine tested with Dr. s and it was high in oxalate, so I am on the diet with the timed calcium citrate. I will be evaluated for biofeedback next Friday and am hopeful that that path will help me. The Elavil and Depakote ( an antiseizure drug) go along with the nerve damage theory. I also am on an herbal program and take candida pills containing peau d'arco and other herbs. Dr. s said that the herbal pills should be OK. Many of the ingreients are high oxalate herbs, but I am taking them in small doses. I think the only theories I am not doing are long term prescription yeast suppression, ( tried that already) and estrogen cream ( Tried that briefly, did not really give it a fair chance. But since I am already doing so much, I'll save this for later.) If I only had pain on penetration then I don't think I'd be so aggressive in treatment. But this constant burning is ruining every aspect of my life. I'm desperate! My second cousin also has vv, but she must not have it as badly as me because she has never even tried a prescription medication to fix it other than short term antifungals. She does the diet and can keep it in check with some flares. Has anyone else tried several approaches at once? Did it help or did it make you crazy?
