Guest guest
Welcome! So glad you found us. Check out www.soundsensitivity.info as well. You are now among friends and supporters. :)Heidi Sent from my iPhone I'm a 52 yo woman. I've suffered from depression since I was a toddler. I have been overly sensitive to sounds since I was at least 13. I started using foam earplugs at 26, because I could no longer sleep without them. It is not unusual for me to use them 24 hours a day - only removing them to talk to someone. One of my cats walks through the house crying at night. I can hear her through the bedroom door and my earplugs. My ears hurt when she cries as though someone is piercing them with an ice pick. I often scream at her. My husband thinks I am being unreasonable. I am also sensitive to the following: cell phone ring tones, people chewing, snoring, breathing, and whispering, basketball games (squeaky shoes), TV commercials, ticking clocks, fluorescent bulbs, clanking, buzzing, squeaking, Celtic, Reggae and East Indian music, children crying, bass music from my neighbors..both sides in the middle of the night. The list goes on and on. Every year is worse. I can't take much more. I thought I was the only one like me. I Googled my symptoms today and found this group. I'm not alone. I'm not a freak. Thanks for accepting me. Here's hoping we can help each other out of the hell we endure.

Guest guest
Get rid of the cat, for heaven's sake! Why would you wish MORE hardship upon yourself than you already have?? I don't believe in pet ownership at all anyway. And when your own pet makes you boiling mad, what is the point?? I'm a 52 yo woman. I've suffered from depression since I was a toddler.
