Guest guest
Hello again group. I am having trouble finding the correct INCI name for coconut milk. When I look at the The International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients at http://pharmacos.eudra.org/F3/inci/inciaco.htm where I usally find correct INCI names, I cannot find coconut milk. The only other place that I have found is at http://www.oshun.ca/inci.html on Oshuns site. But it is written like this: Coconut milk: Cocos Nucifera Extract, Water, Potassium Metabisulfite. If one was to use coconut milk out of a coconut, then the Potassium Metabilsulfite would not be in that. ( ? ) I would be very grateful to know the correct INCI name for coconut milk. Thank-you in advance
Guest guest
>I am having trouble finding the correct INCI name for coconut milk. Where did you get the Coconut Milk? If the Coconut Milk came from a food store, there may be an ingredient list on the package. If the Coconut Milk was made for " cosmetic " purposes, you should contact the vendor. I found two sources for Coconut Milk and the ingredient list was Water (and) Cocos Nucifera (and) Xanthan Gum In the EU, Cocos Nucifera is defined as " Coconut oil. Extractives and their physically modified derivatives. It consists primarily of the glycerides of the fatty acids capric, lauric, myristic, oleic and palmitic. (Cocos nucifera, Palmae) " . http://pharmacos.eudra.org/F3/inci/inciaco.htm Maurice -------------------------------------------------------- Maurice O. Guest guest
Hei Pam, I didn't actually know that, I have always heard that the " water " in a coconut is coconut milk. And never gave it another thought. I make my own virgin coconut oil from coconuts and have used the " water " in differant applications, thinking it is the natural milk. I think there must be something good about it. I don't like throwing away anything really, I try to make use of most :-) Thanks for the info ! , after watching this thread the past couple of days, it occurs to me that no one has questioned your comment about using the coconut milk " out of a coconut. " Are you referring to the liquid inside the coconut? That isn't coconut milk, it's coconut water. Coconut milk is made from the coconut meat: it doesn't occur as a liquid inside the coconut. Forgive me if you already knew this, thought I'd mention it " just in case. "
