Guest guest
I have made transparent CP before. It does melt-n-pour but only once or twice before it becomes cloudy. It involves alcohol though, so I would think that would have to be in the ingredient list. There is a new product to turn CP soap clear. I forget what's in it, but I don't think it's sorbitol. If you know Bobbi Guerra from other lists, ask her; she has used it before. And I'm not sure it would be melt-n-pour either; just clear. Sherry Boester Wildwood BodyWorks > someone who shares a list I'm on talks of selling an 'all natural' > melt and pour soap... the ingredients list reads: > > Blend of 100% Certified Organic Palm and Coconut Oils (Saponified), > Purified Water, Glycerin, Sorbitol > > > will that make M & P gentlemen? it seems far too simple to me! Vegetable Glycerine, Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Olive Oil, Distilled Water & Citric Acid Upon requesting the MSDS you discover that it actually as the following ingredients.... 2.1 Aqua: 25~50% 2.2 Propylene Glycol: 10~25% 2.3 Sodium Stearate: 10~25% 2.4 Glycerine: 5~10% 2.5 Sucrose: 5~10% 2.6 Sodium te: 5~10% 2.7 Sorbitol: 1~5% 2.8 Amonium Lauryl Sulphate: 1% 2.9 Sodium Chloride: 0.5~1.0% 2.10 Stearic Acid: 0.5~1.0% 2.11 Lauric Acid: 0.1~0.5% 2.12 Pentasodium Pentetate: <0.1% 2.13 Tetrasodium Etidronate: <0.1% As you can see from comparing the two lists, there are a lot more ingredients than what they are disclosing. Ask the seller for the MSDS as that should reveal the truth. I would expect saponified coconut oil to be listed as sodium/potassium cocoate, whereas it appreas from their data they consider saoponified coconut oil to be sodium laurate.... so they have listed the raw material rather than the derivatives of the same. regards,
Guest guest
> As you can see from comparing the two lists, there are a lot more > ingredients than what they are disclosing wouldn't that be a labelling > violation, then? I believe all ingredients have to be listed per FDA, > is that correct? maureen Here in Australia there seems to be many large suppliers that don't appear to have to follow the " full disclosure " legislation. Auroma is great one for it. Here you have to either use the INCI name or common english, and Auroma use a convenient combination of them both to make their products sound as natural as possible. A shampoo they sell lists the ingredient of " coconut maize co-extract " . Any guesses what it might be? LOL I had to phone the lab and it took 24 hours to be given the INCI name and that was *only* because I demanded I needed it for an export product, otherwise they weren't going to tell me. I'm not sure how the big companies here get away with it, but they do it all the time. It was an Australian company that gave me the common ingredient list and the MSDS for the M & P that varied so greatly. When the M & P arrived there was no ingredient list on it at all. Perhaps there is some loophole that allows suppliers of ingredients, rather than end products, get away without having to disclose what's in it.... but then how do we as the end manufacturer know what to put on our labels? *sigh* some days you wish you didn't get out of bed! love,
