Guest guest
I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question, and I have so many opinions and advice from so many wonderful people about this, but I thought I would ask in forum since we have many " formulators " - and I wanted to get some fresh insight. Has anyone ever " sold " their formulations? I am in a situation and it has been discussed on another list, and I rather not monopolize this list with all the details- I am working with the legalities of some areas of a contract, but I was wondering if anyone has ever had the opportunity to sell of unique formula of one of their products, and how did you handle it? - Thanks in advance, Kathie Post message: Cosmeticinfo Subscribe: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Cosmeticinfo Unsubscribe: Cosmeticinfo-unsubscribe List owner: Cosmeticinfo-owner URL to this page: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Cosmeticinfo

If you " sold " a formulation, there would be no reason another company couldn't copy it. Only if you patent a formulation will you be able to claim unique for a length of time. If someone was willing to buy a formula off you I can't think of anything to stop you doing this, but haven't a clue what price range would be. Guest guest
Hi Dave thanks for your reply. I particularly do NOT want to sell or do anything like that with my formulations. I've been private labeling for this client for almost 2 years now. He wants to go " big " and produce my products on a much larger scale than I can do. He has asked for my formulas so he can find someone to do this. This is why I am asking! Unfortunately, when I started working with him, it never occurred to me to do a contract of sorts that ironed out this type of thing. Big lesson learned. kathie - f I was contracted to work for somebody, any formulating would be part of the contract price.
