Michele,

I have sat on a doughnut pillow for years. I just bought a new one that is 4

inches thick with a hole cut out of the middle. I bought it at a medical

supply store for $13.00. You can also get them at your local drug stores like

Super D or Eckards.

Michele....you can buy a donut cushion at any medical supply store. They're

also helpful for anyone suffering with hemmoroids. It may make you more

comfortable sitting at work. Take care....Diane

Michele,

I am a RN that works in ob/gyn. They no longer recommend the use of a donut

because they found that the bloodflow is increased to the area therefore

causing more pressure. The hospital has not used them for a few years now.

They found they do more harm than good.

Hi all,

I also am an RN and work in a hospital. We do not suggest the use of

donuts for the same reasons that Becky stated. Most hospitals here in Fla.

do not carry them, or recommend them.

Donut definitely helps. Cheaper version - form circle with a rolled

towel. Sometimes you can custom make it to fit your exact pain even

better than the rubber circle. Another suggestion - cut out a circle

from a piece of foam, also more comfortable than the inflated version.

Hi Michele,

I sit on a donut at work and at home and it helped tremedously. I got

it at Savon Drug Store. They cost $17.00 each but they were well worth

it. Get the inflatable ones, but don't buy a cheat one beause the air

leaks out. Also, if you put a pillow case over them, it's not as

embarassing.

Joanne,

I think in the long run it would do more harm than good. All that increased

pressure can cause varicose veins which you can get anywhere. Maybe it would

not make things worse with the vulvar pain but I would check with a doctor

first. Maybe can give some advice. I am just saying what I have

learned from my experiences. It just seems to me that increased pressure would

do more harm than good but that is just my opinion. It definately makes things

worse for surgery and hemroids.

I used a donut after my surgery, and I did notice that it put a lot of

pressure on my legs and was uncomfortaable. I found that sitting on a very

soft regular pillow helped get the direct pressure off my bottom, without

the extra pressure on my legs (it did feel like the blood supply was being

cut off!). THe donut was great for very short periods of time when I

really needed it (like in the car the first week or so) but the other

pillow was pretty comfy too. Just a suggestion.

Hi Beckie,

It's taken me awhile, but it's been a busy week. All I can say is the

donut pillows have allowed me to keep working. I couldn't make it

without them. My sister is a nurse, and I love her, but sometimes she

gets a little to intense. Anyway, I hope you're doing well.
