suggestions for cutting pills?

hi,

i've been cutting the lexapro 10mg tabs in 4 to ween down first to

7.5 and then to 5. i want to go slower from this point on of course.

i have a good pill cutter but the pills are small to begin with and

are so crumbly i don't know how to get an accurate dose. i wanted to

cut them in 8ths so i could go down by 1.25 grams at a time. but even

cutting them in 4 makes them fall apart. what happens if i use a pill

crusher instead and then try to even divide the results of the

crushed pill? will the medicine in the pill lose effectiveness, esp

with the doses i have to save for days later in a crushed state? i

don't want to do this just to find out i destroyed the effective

amount of medicine in the drug and go through major withdrawal as a

result. any other ideas?
