This time of illness has been a blessing in many ways. I do not feel that it is "wrong", but more that it is a vehicle for me to examine issues that I would not have examined if I had remained healthy. I've had to think about life and death, and disability. Who am I in the face of all of this? Am I my arm? or my leg? Am I my mind? No, I am not. And knowing that, I can accept what is happening to me without having to get upset over it. My illness has actually gotten better since I've adopted this viewpoint on it. Or maybe, in my acceptance of it, I find that I can choose if I'm suffering or not suffering. I clearly choose not to suffer. So I am not. I choose to find joy, love, and the threads in my life that are of my own desires, and not those society has placed upon me -- in this space at this time. I find myself opening as I study, as I write, as I move in my own space. It is an opening to the wisdom inside, and outside, and from God. I may never succeed in the things that society has said is important (and I have said were important,) but I can keep working on succeeding in moving in a peaceful way, in a peaceful heart. I know that I am in the exact right time, doing exactly what I'm suppose to be doing, in this exact way. It is not easy, but I have joy almost everyday.
