Guest guest Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 Hi Simon I have made soap with beef tallow for many years. It makes great soap and even better hand-milled soaps. I would pour the rendered oil into wide mouth containers, not jugs. It can also be frozen in plastic container for 6 months. Pig fat [ lard] tallow makes great lather for laundry soap, mixed with some beef tallow and a little borax to each batch. I would seperate the fats when rendering and store them seperately. My experience is that soap made with 3/4 beef and 1/4 pig make the best soaps. I also add cocoa butter and olive oil to my batches. hth, Sherry Natural Care E-books, booklets, spreadsheets www.herbalsoap-healingcreams.com Quote
