Dr. Hooshmond has always been against narcotics but I have heard that he has

changed his mind. That he never had a narcotics license and that this was

one reason he didn't prescribe them. Of course this is from another list so

it is hearsay and I can't swear that it is true.

There are some people that swear by him but I have heard from more people

that cy he is only out for money and will not treat you if there is any

difficulty paying. Won't even try to work out payments. And most of the

people that I heard from where in to much pain to go along with his game plan

of no narcotics because what he was doing did not work.

It sounds to me like you need to accept the narcotics. It took a lot of us a

while to accept them and take them. I know I fought them. I take oxycontin,

and hydrocodone. I think that addiction is now the last of my concerns. When

they find a cure we can all go into a fancy rehab together! Lol

Hey guys,

Concerning Felices post, i heard the exact same thing about him on 2 other

lists. Hes' in it for the money. He made some signifcant advances in dxing

the RSD and is cashingin on it. He won't treat with narcotics cz he can't. We

here all know the benifit of narcotics. We have pain like cancer paitients

and terminally ill people have pain. Would they deny narcotics to them? same

difference here. I don't put any money on anything this guy has to say. He's

full of himself. He doesn't have RSD, if he did you could be damn sure he'd

change his tune fast. Be careful what you believe people. Go with what works

for you and don't listen to those who don't have rsd, or drs. that follow

fraud in VA and did about 8 months in prison.

Hi Carolyn,

I too hope you don't get one of those doc's

that won't adequately treat pain in whatever

way is needed. Too bad you have to wait so

long to find out. I wish you the best.

For pain I just changed from oxycontin only

to the Duragesic patch (contains fentanyl)

with the oxycontin for breakthrough pain. The

patch has provided me with better pain relief.

It's the highest dose patch - 100 mcg/hr.

The adhesive is a little tough on some areas

of skin, but well worth the effects.

Is this chap Hossenwhatsit the person from the *rsdrx.com* site??? The

one that has all that information on RSD and is supposed to be a

neurologist? He has been convicted for FRAUD??? Does this mean the info

on his site is *suspect* or not accurate or whatever???

His was the first site I found when I went looking!

I personally don't like to take narcotics, but this man is insane. Maybe he

is a doctor wanna-be? Everyone is intitled to their opinions, but this man

is supposedly a professional. If he really is a doctor, he should go back to

school...grade school.

knowledge or answers. As some meds/tx's

work for some and not others. No one could

come near me with a tens unit!

and L ankle. I haven't really had edema, but

the other night my legs were so swollen, I

could push on an area and it would leave a

big indentation - pitting edema 2+. Have you

Some evenings my foot is really swollen and tight feeling, but by

morning thankfully it has reduced to it's normal size which is a bit

lumpy in the ankle area, both inner and outer but that is it's *normal*

look[LOL]. With the colder weather it has not even swollen as much as

usual except when I went into the city with my daughter and we had

various messages to do and some shopping for clothes for her and that

evening it was terribly painful and swollen so that when I poked it with

my finger it went all white but not indented.

There was talk of colour of limbs. My husband for about a year now has

marvelled at the extraordinary purpled colour of my feet and knees and I

suppose the bit of leg in between a lot of the time and we supposed my

circulation was not good. However this was not all the time. One day my

physical therapist was here and we watched my left foot change colour in

front of our eyes and she felt quite alarmed. I assured her it was how

things seem to be with me these days. This was before I was diagnosed

with RSD though so I suppose this could be a RSD thing NOT bad

circulation!

Hope you sleepless people all manage to get some sleep soon. It is

nearly time for me to do the rounds and then get into bed. We have a

very strong wind tonight and it can have quite gale force gusts and it

unsettles all the cats. I did some changing around today, so all my boys

but one are in the house they will stay for winter but that has

unsettled them and then add the wind and they are all meowing so best I

go and stroke a few backs and chins, give them a dose of Rescue remedy

and they may settle for the night the dear boys.I have brought the three

girls who were in that house inside to the sitting room and the whole

room is in an uproar so the sooner I go to bed and turn the light out,

the sooner they will settle too. In the dark nobody can see any

*strangers*. I have a sore back around my bra strap area whether this is

connected to my rotator cuff I don't know, so will take my usual pain

tabs with one of my piggyback ones. I do NOT want to be awake all night

listening to Winton snore. Mind you I am working on that. I have some of

the herb Mullein and you make a tea and add 1 tsp of garlic honey and it

drains all the sinus an lymph nodes. It is for cats that get stuffed up,

but it will be very effective for Winton too. He feels quite hopeful as

he is SO sick of me growling at him when I am awake and he is noisily

NOT! Just need to wait for the garlic honey to seep.

This is interesting.

The thing is that if he didn't prescribe narcs because he

didn't have a DEA license, why didn't he just say so? Why

cover that up with all the mumbo jumbo he filled people's

heads with?

My experience with Dr . H was so bad that I don't even want

to hear about him!

He has some good answers (in his puzzles) to some of what

happens to us, however, evrything he says has to be looked

at in perspective, because he also says a lot of stuff that

is just plain stupid.

I know people who followed his advice about not using

assistive devices (canes, w/chairs, etc.) and really did

themselves in. If you can't walk right and using a cane

gives you the opportunity to be mobile, why would you choose

to just sit all day long?

Makes no sense, right? However, he supports his claims with

a bunch of medical crap that makes no sense. Yes! RSDers

are better off moving, but how can you move, if you can't

walk? Aren't you better off using a cane and maintain

mobility?

Everyone has to make up their mind. And the key issue here

is that everyone has to do their own research and learn as

much as they can about the devastating disease we all share.

Like everything else with RSD some of Hoosmon's advice is solid and worth

listening too and some is controversial and harmful. I know my doctor thinks

he is nuts. I brought some stuff I downloaded to my doctor in NYC and he

just smiled and said don't pay any attention to that. He didn't even bother

reading it when he found out whose it was

Hi Margot,

My pain doc calls me his " most colorful patient " - My legs

aren't ever the right color. I tan them by sitting outside

every day for at least half hour - the fact that I live in

Miami makes this easy - but even thought I tan very dark,

you can still see the purple, blue, red, white thing I've

got going on in my legs.

But when they are tanned, you do have to look a lot closer

to see the discoloration, it's not that plain to see.

The swelling never goes away either! I am so tired of

having to always have a spare pair of shoes in a gab when I

go somewhere! LOL - It's like I'm a 90 yr. old lady taking

all these precautions!

But hey! it gives us something to do!

His site has my husband and Doc here in Oxford worried about my wearing

this Orthotic Brace.

I say to them `Hey you guys, I would not go out of doors for fear of

falling without this brace. I am able to do all my cat work myself, I am

able to look after the pigs and do sheep stock work which involves a hug

amount of walking.'

So this information's is good to know thank you everyone. I have an

elbow crutch to use if I am without my brace in the house, but my

shoulder is so painful at present I am unable to use it, so wear the

brace for safety.

Talking of sheep, it is time to go and move them to fresh pasture!

My deposition has been postponed again. However the other side is going for

blood. They are going back into my medical history to when I was 10 years

old and had a horse fall on me and break my collarbone.

Part of the problem is that I was having problems with my back before the

accident as I had arthritis in the spine and had fallen a few weeks before.

However I was working full time sometimes 12 hours a day and driving 40 miles

each way to work and to home.

Has anyone had this kind of experience in a law suit where a previous injury

was exacerbated by the accident and how was it handled?

Hi Felice, My w/c carrier tried that with old ankle break (I

was 19) and sprained quad -R leg (I was 20), but my attorney

made a case for the fact that I hd never had any problems

due to those injuries. As a matter of fact, in the 10 from

1984 to my accident 1994, I had only taken sick time for my

last pregnancy in '86, a breast reduction in '91 and tubal

ligation in '87.

had been to an orthopedic surgeon only once due to a broken

toe while playing around with Pete and hit the couch.

there were only general physicals once per year and my

annual gyno exam. Other than that, I was treated for

migraines by my pcp and that was all.

when we went to arbitration and they brought this out (their

big guns), the arbiter told then they had nothing and if

they were planning to go to court with this, they better

think it over.

anyway, I left the arbitration with them declaring permanent

totally disabled since 2 years before.

Provided that the RSD wasn't an issue prior to the accident

that caused it, there is nothing they can do about past

injuries. I mean everyone has accidents, but the accidents

don't necessarily disable a person.

That's how it worked out for me, but different insurance

companies use different strategies and if there is something

I learned throughout this mess, is that you never know what

an insurance co is going to pull;; to get out from paying,

wether it's legal or not.

Good luck hon, I certainly don't envy you. I'm very glad I

settled and got out of that whole scene cause it was driving

me crazy.
