Guest guest
Hi Tonya, You said: <<I am torn, but my " gut instinct " tells me that my body still hasn't recovered from the previous drugs. I am almost 4 weeks clean and am worried that symptoms might show up in the next month or so like before.>> ***Trust your gut. If you have symtpoms showing up in the next month or so, let us know. We'll help you help yourself through them. Are you taking the recommended supplements (liquid multi, colloidal minerals, magnesium, calcium, fish oil)? If not, you should start. They can help prevent and/or mitigate those symptoms. Warmly, Kim
Guest guest
<<In his " Timing of the Onset of Symptoms " section, he writes " Psychiatric symptoms of withdrawal appear abruptly within days to weeks of stopping an antidepressant, lowering the dose, or forgetting to take a few doses. ... By contrast, depressive relapse occurs gradually one to two months or more after stopping an antidepressant. " ** Poppycock. As the brain heals and changes occur, anything is possible including bouts of depression, agitation, etc. These are time-limited. <<My symptoms gradually started and became worse during the 3 months following Effexor withdrawal. Of course there were some that started within hours of the missed dose. But the scattered or fragmented thoughts, hallucinations, confusion and depressed and suicidal thinking all took quite awhile to start. Those led me to try AD # 3, which made everything much worse. The physical symptoms took a bit to develop as well. The burning didn't start right away. I was numb for quite awhile. Then I started feeling agitation underneath the numbness, if that makes any sense. Later the burning and stinging started. And for some strange reason, I still cycle through all those to this day, only to a lesser degree. To me, all of this felt like delayed responses. By the end of month 3, the symptoms were at their worst. That is when I started #4, Doxepin. I was already taking xanax again regularly, and that quack wanted me on Risperdal and Gabitril to boot! Enough ranting though. I was led to believe that I truly was depressed and suffered from acute anxiety, and that is just what it felt like. Everytime I asked my doc if this could still be effects from Effexor, he said " no, by now your real psychiatric problems are being revealed " . And when I read Dr. Glenmullen's book, it confirmed what the quack had told me. I am torn, but my " gut instinct " tells me that my body still hasn't recovered from the previous drugs. I am almost 4 weeks clean and am worried that symptoms might show up in the next month or so like before.>> ** Other symptoms may indeed show up. But they eventually go away if you're taking care of yourself (good food, rest, gentle exercise, supplements to support healing, etc.).
