Guest guest
I want a yes or no answer right this minute. I know that is not going to happen. Patti I was offered a spinal tap and a couple of days in hospital after my neurologist declared he was almost sure without doubt. I declined after asking them was there anything that they could do. He agreed as they had no cure, treatment and weren't sure what cased it. What a way to screw a 20 year olds life up! Looking back I wish he hadn't told me as it was years before it was really noticeable. But truthfully I would have probably gone along knowing something was definitely not right and being very scared. Its just my appointment came two years after my original symptoms and I really thought I was 100% healthy then. It seems to make more sense knowing now days with the possibility of the disease modifying drugs. You don't want to find out to late. My neuro is sceptical about there use for me now after all these years as he feels I have started on secondary progressive All the best Jan --- Patti
Guest guest
I'm not sure what a flare up consists of. I went through six weeks of numbness in my right leg and foot and then Kaboom! I had two weeks of really bad stufff. that tapered off and now I'm down to migrating fluctuating numbness and pain. I don't know if my current symptoms are considered a flare up or not and I have no idea how long they will last. I don't know if I had fore shocks, a big earth quake, and am now having after shocks or what. I still am not 100 % sure if I should do it or not. Patti I was told by my doctor that a spinal tap will only show that you haveMS if you are having a flare-up of MS at the time of the tap. Otherthan that, they can be negative and you still can have MS. I never hada spinal tap because my neurologist said he couldn't do one while I wason blood thinners (I have clots in both legs). He said it could cause ahematoma in or around my spinal cord and paralyze me for life.ne Patti
