Guest guest
Hi Heidi, I just wanted to say 'thank you' for starting this new list and hope we get everybody on that we had on the 'old' one. It can be a fantastic support system. Just a short synopsis of my story. I've had VV for approx. 10 yrs. During that time I've been to so many doctors I've lost count, with the majority of them saying its either a yeast infection or subtlely saying 'its in your head'. I've gone the route of Anti-biotics, anti-yeast medications, to cooking my underwear in the microwave, no soaps, lo oxylate diet, to even sitting in a tub of almost pure bleach water trying to kill what ever this 'thing' is. One of the worst treatments I used was Pramasone & Gynecort, a corticosteroid which I feel did unmeasureable damage causing blisters where I looked as tho I had radiation burns. I now know that one is not to use that for any extended length of time, which I had for about 9 months. Foolish me!!!!!! I've had severe burning, pain, cracking and splitting of the labial tissue (like fissures), fusing of labial lips, to being unable to 'endure' a sexual relationship. Until 10 yrs ago, believe me, I had a wonderful sex life. (so, you doctors out there, don't tell me its in my head!!) Only recently my gynecologist has put me on hormones (I'm menopausal), with using Estrace cream down below to help 'unfuse' the lips. I must say I've seen some improvement and hopefully will continue to see more. The wonderful part about this list is so many people being willing to share what has helped them and to give comfort in knowing 'you're not alone', as I thought I was the only one with such a condition and was too ashamed and embarassed to tell anyone. The freeing of this thought alone has been wonderful.. Thanks again Heidi, Warmest Regards, Dee ~
