Guest guest
Yikes, Bill...10 days??? Are you drinking enough water? 64 oz daily minimum. Measure it out today and see where you're at. You might be surprised at how little you drink. Medications play a big part in bowel movements, too. Something as simple as a sinus pill can stop me up. Have you tried eating bran flakes every morning or drinking prune juice? It sounds gross, but it truly can help. Just be certain you're getting adequate water. How's your exercise routine going? I haven't heard much from you. Getting your body moving can really help get your bowels moving. Come on, Bill...challenge yourself everyday! Smiles, Kelli I was wondering if anyone has bowl trouble along with there bladder trouble? My bowl trouble is not being able to have on on a regular basis. I easily go a week without one and often about 10 day's. I have tried different diets to help but never much luck. Bill
Guest guest
Bill, you really need to talk to your doctor about that. I have crohns disease which is in the GI tract but it is in remission, per a scope in November.....yeeeehaaa! But I still go like crazy some days too. You can't blame it on the female hormones though.....lol That's not good going that long w/o a bowel movement. It sounds like you need fiber. But PLEASE talk to your doc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for listening...lol ShirleyBill wrote: I was wondering if anyone has bowl trouble along with there bladder trouble? My bowl trouble is not being able to have on on a regular basis. Guest guest
I am a diet coke drinker Bill, I'm not one to tell people how to live their lives...but I'd like to share my recent history with you. I was diagnosed with MS right before Christmas. Being research obsessive, I got my hands on everything I could regarding MS, looking for answers. There are many, many theories out there on causes. One in particular that intrigued me was the aspartame/MS connection. Being a diet Coke drinker for 20 years made me wonder. The main problem I had prior to my Dx was numbness on my left side. It had been that way for 2 months, with no relief. After reading about aspartame, I was convinced to eliminate it from my diet and see if I got any results. Within 3 days, I began to get feeling back! I've only been off it for about a month now but the way I feel is amazing. No more excruciating headaches, no more numbness, no more walking around in a 'fog'. I don't know if it's a coincidence or what...but I urge you, no I BEG you to at least try it for a month and see if you feel any improvement. The damage has been done...but hopefully by eliminating this horrible chemical from my body and with vitamin and diet therapy, maybe I can begin to heal and prevent any further damage. I understand that this is just a 'theory', it's even an urban legend, there isn't any 'proof' and conventional medical doctors will brush it off. But what an irresponsible person I would be for not sharing my story. Recommended reading: Blaylock, Excitotoxins: The Taste that Kills I don't believe everything I read, but honestly, what does one have to lose by eliminating aspartame from their diet? Guest guest
Hi Bill: not that you want more drugs in your system, but when I was a kid my grandfather, who was an MD, gave me Doxidan. It is not a laxative, but a stool softener. Maybe check it out? winnie
Guest guest
Thanks Kelli and Shirley The prune juice does not sound good to drink but if it would work I would give it a try. I feel I have tried a little bit of everything, maybe I haven't been to consistant with things. I have a tendency to give up too early when things don't seem to be working. I am a diet coke drinker and I have been giving tea a good try lately, I have always hated tea but as I have drank more I am getting use to it better. I had my wife get me the variety flavored tea and those aren't too bad. My kids are on a 2 hour delay this morning. We had temperature around 60 degree's last week and it is suppose to be that warm again next week. Crazy Indiana weather. Bill Re: Bowl troubles Yikes, Bill...10 days??? Guest guest
--Hi Bill , i agree with the aspartame theory mentioned below - they have found mri brain plaques in heavy aspartame users its worth giving a try like Kelli said i think. On your bowel problem before my dx i never really though much about my regularity sometimes it would be everyday then go to 4/5 days but constipation would kill me and make me wonder why? and it did'nt make me feel good knowing how many days of food was in me and nothing leaving. With ms i started to read and use 'Udo oil' but you can use flaxseed oil, hemp oil and such - i take 2 tablespoons in the morning and 2 at night with meals.Been doing that five years now and i'm as smooth as a duck now once a day. curtis - In MSersLife , kelligirl710@a... wrote: > > > I am a diet coke drinker > Bill, > I'm not one to tell people how to live their lives...but I'd like to share > my recent history with you. > I was diagnosed with MS right before Christmas. Guest guest
What she said Plenty of fluids helps me; and I found that a cup of raisins a day worked wonders! Guest guest
Bill, I too have this trouble from time to time. I find that drinking more water helps. I try to eat raisins every day. I also try to eat beans daily for the fiber. I have always considered tea to act as a diuretic, but also leads to binding me up. I too drink diet soda, but have cut back drastically. I tried to eliminate it, but it didn't really do anything for me. Maybe I will try again soon. I do feel better though since starting the Avonex. I will take my 5th injection tomorrow. I have a touch of the flu symptoms, but not nearly what I thought I'd have. I get a headache for two days and the chills and achy feelings for three days, but my symptoms have been getting fewer and less invasive. I live in Northern Iowa. We had such nice weather last Friday. I sat outside with a zip up sweatshirt as a coat. Now we have 8 inches of snow in the last two days on top of two days worth of freezing rain. I am still unsteady on my feet, so my dad bought me some ice grippers that go on my boots. They are the kind ice fisherman wear. They have 4 rows of " teeth " that grab on to the ice. They work great. I use them to get to the car and from the car to work. I feel much safer. My dad is also going to get me a ice gripper for my cane and I should be unstoppable in this winter wonderland! I really don't mind the weather except when I can't get out and about. One drawback though is that my water pipes in the kitchen froze last night. I have an old house and the way to the basement is a hole in the floor that you lift up a door. Then you have to climb down a ladder. Not very safe for me, so I either rely on my dear friends Randy or to help me, or there is the owner of the hardware store that does plumbing. He came over last night at 6:30 in the middle of a blizzard to help me out. I left the water run all night and today while I'm at work so that it doesn't freeze again. Randy is going to put some insulation on the pipes tomorrow (I think), so I should be able to have my water back to normal. We are supposed to have weather in the 30's and 40's over the weekend. I can't wait! I am going to town for groceries as I am running low. My town of 750 people does not have a grocery store, so we travel to where my parents live 14 miles away. I better get busy, Marcy Reply-To: MSersLife To: <MSersLife > Subject: Re: Bowl troubles Date: Thu, 6 Jan 2005 06:29:15 -0500 Thanks Kelli and Shirley The prune juice does not sound good to drink but if it would work I would give it a try. Guest guest
what's rebounding? ? ? also, ow magnesium can affect this. i saw prune wafers in a catalog. i guess this'd be for those who don't enjoy eating raisins and prunes and such. i think that prune juice is easier to take for some.
