Guest guest
Hi,I'm new to the group but I've had this condition since I was a pre-teen. Now that I have kids of my own, two sons, it's clear they have inherited it from me as well. The sound of someone chewing or swallowing will drive us from the room; and for me it includes the sound of hot water being poured into cup (weird, I know). I've often wondered if it's something emotional that triggers the feeling of rage when I hear these kinds of sounds; but I don't think my up bringing and childhood are any more remarkable than anyone else. I believe on some level we've all had some sensory integration issues (my sons and I); but my youngest son has been diagnosed with this. I've noticed as I've gotten older it's become less of an issue for me, but the sound issues still invoke an immediate and intense reaction on my part. I've enjoyed reading many of the posts; It's nice to know that it's no just some oddball thing in my own family.Brad--
Guest guest
You too, huh? I also react to the sound of water pouring into cups. And welcome to the forum! One of my two daughters also has misophonia, the other one doesn't at all. The daughter with misophonia has completely different trigger sounds to me: she hates sniffing and plate-scraping; I hate the sounds of chewing, slurping, pouring... > and for me it includes the sound of hot water being poured into > cup (weird, I know). Guest guest
Glad you found us(:To: Soundsensitivity Sent: Friday, September 9, 2011 6:44 AMSubject: New to the group Hi all. I just joined up. What a welcome site it is to see that I am not alone in this issue that has bothered me since my earliest memories. For me it's mostly gum chewing, eating-related stuff but it's gotten to the point that just seeing some people chew with their mouth's open is enough to drive me up a wall. I have to restrain myself from punching some people. Anyway, thanks for having me
