Guest guest
Hello Janine, Thank you for the email reply. The neurologist I saw yesterday basically said that the main issue for me was to try to walk as much as I can. My pain management doc wants me to take more pain medication and walk and try not to use the wheelchair unless I absolutely have to. The neurologist conferred with him. I slept more last night than I have probably in years. I made an affirmation and a decision that I was going to start going to bed when my wife did, which is usually around 10 pm. I used to stay up until 4 or 5 am and sleep until 8 or 9 am. I slept a total of 10 hours yesterday. Of course when I woke up my back was killing me. Subconsciously I think that is why I usually would sleep only 4-6 hours a night because if I lay down any longer the pain is almost intolerable when I wake up. It's not the bed. We have a ultra plush pillow top bed and it is wonderfully comfortable. I fell asleep last night in bed watching the Yankees get beat and slept for two hours. When I woke up I took my Oxycontin and my pm meds. I then slept another 8 hours. I don't know what else I can do to keep from hurting so bad when I wake up. I have tried sleeping on the heating pad, but I am afraid that I will get burned. My heating pad turns itself off after a little while anyway. Arrgh. I guess it is either sleep and hurt or don't sleep and feel like hammered you know what for the rest of the day. LOL. I go to physical therapy today. My neck has been killing me lately and physical therapy really helps. I am getting a new person today, so I hope her hands are as strong as the fella who usually works on me, but I doubt it. Maybe I should find out if she is a republican or a democrat and get her riled up about the election. That may put a little more umph into my neck massage from her. Grin. Guest guest
Have you tried a heated mattress pad or an electric blanket? I really enjoy our electric blanket especially on the extra bad days. I can also turn to furnace down lower at night since I cranking up the electric blanket is cheaper than the furnace. I am so glad you went to a different neurologist. You must be profoundly relieved. Kaylene I have tried sleeping on the heating pad, but I am afraid that I will get burned. Guest guest
Hello Kaylene, That is an excellent idea. I never thought of that. I am sure our five cats won't mind it a bit either. Heating pads, newspapers and heating blankets are cat magnets. LOL. Pain free blessings, Authors Webpage: http://www.AuthorsDen.com/Huber Huber@... Guest guest
Hi You are quite welcome. Now if you could just place those 5 cats strategically around the areas of your body that hurt they will certainly keep you more than warm. haha Kaylene PS We have 1 cat and 2 dogs and if they had their way we would all sleep together each night. >Heating pads, newspapers and heating blankets are cat magnets.
