Guest guest
Hello everyone, Hope you all had a good labor day weekend! I was wondering with those of you that have balance problems, Have any of you had to go thru..... Vestibular (balance) rehabilitation—This involves exercises and techniques designed to induce brief periods of loss of balance in order to learn to adapt. Exercises may include eye or head movements, distorting or eliminating visual input, and changing or moving weight bearing surfaces. I had started them two weeks ago and have not noiticed any improvement, I now start to fall backwards with no movement, Just standing still at times.. I have not had dx yet, I will be going to Clevenland Clinic in Ohio the 24th of Sept for 2nd opinion. The therapist told me that she does therapy like this on alot of people who has m.s. Also certain lights seem to bring this on, has anyone else suffered from balance problems from lights? I had to drive the other night in the rain and it has been awhile since night driving and i felt like i was drunk driving i had a hard time and it scared me. Never happened like this before. My eyes got real blurry too. Has this happened to any of you ?? Thanks, JC in ohio
Guest guest
hi jc, i have never heard of vestibular rehab, but i had to take a test once with a neuro-otologist (ears) wher i was strapped into this contraption and the floor kept movin and i had to adjust my balance to it-sounds similar to what you were speaking of...anyway i cried through the whole thing because i could not do it and it was just a test! i do not have a dx yet either but i have all the symptoms of ms except for the plaques on my mris! anyway i also have great balance problems including falling backwards when standing still, in fact my husband is afraid of me cooking now because i have fallen twice while cooking at the stove and hit my head on the island so...anyway i usea walker to walk already because i have such bad balance while walking but the standing still stuff freaks me out! i can't comment on the driving with lights because my nystagmus prevents me from driving at all GRRRRR but i would be interested in chatting sometime since i have never spoken to anyone else who knows about the vestibular tests or rehab as you have! torture i call it! have a good one rachelyse in CT > Hello everyone, Hope you all had a good labor day weekend! Guest guest
i do have a kitchen stool with a back on it (and i do not have the problems of falling asleep though that sounds very scary as well!), but i have problems with dragging it over from the island to the stove or to the sink where i want it when i want it there! i have designed and hopefully soon we will be beginning to build an accessible house where there will be a chair on wheels at the stove which will also be easy to move to the sink! -rachel > > Hello everyone, Hope you all had a good labor day weekend!
