Can you say what the liver disease is? Is it PCB? I've tackled this successfully by giving long term support to the liver, the tests back indicated that it was kept in check despite person going through high levels of stress? I think you need to know first what the liver disease is and go from there. Some practitioners of TCM have their own liver testing machines on site to monitor regularly patient response to certain herbs or if there is a history of liver trouble.LorraineLorraine Hodgkinson AHG MRCHMHERBS AND HELPERS6, Butts Fold, Cockermouth,Cumbria, CA13 9HY. Hi All

I have a 30 year old woman coming to see me next week who has PCOS and auto-immune liver disease. She is taking cyclosporin and prednisolone for the liver disease. She wants to conceive, but has never had a period, apart from one very small one at puberty. She was not overweight until she started on the steroids (don't know when this was yet) but has put on 3 stone since then and can't shift it. I usually feel very confident about treating PCOS, and typically use fairly high doses of glyc, peony, vitex, smilax and serenoa, with good results. I have not ever treated auto-immune liver disease, and I'm worrying about drug-herb interactions, and also the effect of herbs on her liver. I haven't seen her yet, so don't know the whole story. It doesn't seem to me that she wants help with her liver disease as such - she feels that the drugs she is on are controlling it and she has been told that she can continue taking them during pregnancy (?) if she conceives.

I would really appreciate any advice anyone might have about helping this person.

Best wishes

bel

Thanks for responding, Lorraine. I asked her the exact same question when I

spoke to her on the phone, but she doesn't know other than it's auto-immune.

What was your protocol for PCB?

Best wishes

Blimey bel,                       That's a big question only had the one case, treated as per individual, gave TCM herbs according to pattern if I can remember right. First test showed positve results and put things back on an even keel, I made a slight adjustment as I remember but beyond that all test results were good, one best ever. I'd need to dig out the case, but may not be helpful if TCM based.

What I took from it was that this condition DID respond and respond well, I didn't follow a protocol, individualised treatment based on pattern and signs. Due to client's lifestyle she was also less than regular with herbs - and it still worked!

Blessings,Lorraine
