Guest guest
Janine what a wonderful story. I believe I've mentioned before but just in case I haven't we have 6 cats and 2 ferals. I got my first cat 6 years ago not long after my brother was murdered. His appearance in our lives really made a difference at that time. His name is Emerald and he is a big black and white tuxedo cat. He was born in our garage in an old cutlas we had to a feral mama in the neighborhood. We found him on day while opening the garage to take my care out and brought him in the house. At the time we had a sheltie so we had a rather large dog crate we put Emmers in. Needless to say he was a mean nasty cat and after about a week of being bitten and scratched I put him outside. It was spring time and the hostas were growing large and that night it rained terribly, poor emmers was hiding under the large hosta leaves crying all night long. The next morning I got up and thought OK one more chance so I trudged outside and rescued him yet again and lo and behold he completely changed. All of a sudden he was the most friendliest loving cat I'd ever seen. Always wanting held and snuggled with. Emerald is amazing, as are all our cats, he knows before I know when I am going to be sick and follows me closely for days. He is always by my side after surgeries and the like. I can't ever imagine a day without him in our lives and we feel the same about the rest of our wonderful cat family. Since rescuing Emmers (his nickname) we've generally rescued one cat per yer since, we did skip one year and the next rescued a brother and sister. We have 1 tuxedo, 3 black cats (it wasn't intentional it just happened.. and we live next to a graveyard LOL) 1 full tabby and 1 tabby/white mix. Each with a different personality and every one of them very loving and appreciative. We are expected to adopt one last rescue kitten in a week or two. For some reason the couple who rescued the momma has been a bit hesitant so to speak lately. It's one of those intuition things as they were gung ho about it since do rescue and plan to someday run a full private shelter for cats in need or disabled, but then the next minute it was almost as if someone else wanted her instead and they were trying to get us to adopt a different cat. It's been odd and very heartbreaking for me as she is a beautiful kitten. A gray and white with very long fur. They have promised this special girl to us but have also asked that we would consider two special need babies instead. Unfortuneately we had to turn down the special needs because they seemed to be extreme cases and more than we can handle right now. At any rate keep your fingers crossed for us in getting this beautiful girl. Sorry for rambling but I had to get that off my chest. I'm so worried that we won't get her and if we don't how upset I know I'll be. To us our cats are like our children. I have broken down and cried several times after recieving one of their emails saying they had reservations after they told us we were a perfect match. Well anyhow I better stop rambling here about my kitties hugs to everyone! Barbie
Guest guest
Hello, Thank you for sharing your beautiful story about how you rescue these babies. Now, thats such a heartwarming thing to do. As we both feel, i dont know what i would have done without my babies, during this long ordeal with this pain issue. There unconditonal love and uncanny sense that something is wrong, i way beyond my belief. They do know when we are not right, and always there to comfort us. Emerald sounds like such a love, and it is amazing how he turned himself right around and wanted to be loved. I really hope you end up getting this little gray ball of fur, she sounds just beautiful. I dont undersand why these people would get your heart all set on adoption and then let you down, sounds so heartbreaking, I am sorry you are going thru such a difficult time right now with the waiting to see if they finally do the right thing. I will pray for you that they do what is right for you and the kitty. Sending only happy thoughts your way.....janine Miss Kissa wrote: what a wonderful story. Guest guest
Awww thanks Janine We got a very short email yesterday saying she will be available on the 17th, they are trying to let the whole litter go at once so no one is left alone. I responded and said great I've been quite nervous about getting her, worried something was wrong.. something to that effect. They responded back " we will set up a time for you to pick her up " I really do think it is not my imagination, I think for some reason they don't want to let us adopt her be it we rescue and already have 6 or they promised her to someone else thinking we didn't want her. I guess we will see on the 17th. Emmies is such a wonderful boy, a big one at that, some 20 lbs, he needs a diet but it is hard when you add new kitties. He's on a good plan he just needs to exercise more!
