The Irish Institute of Medical Herbalists

One Day Seminar

in

National Botanic Gardens, Dublin

Saturday July 16th 2011

9.30 – 6pm

Speakers include

Henrietta Kress

Local Herbs and General Rules for Substitutions

It’s sexy to use exotic foreign plants. But if you can find the time to do

so, it’s very rewarding to pick your herbs in your own back yard. This part

of the talk will be about 10 plants that are abundant in Finland and which

should be easy to find in Ireland.

If you concentrate on single constituents of plants instead of broad

strokes, you’ll be at a loss when one herb you depend on suddenly isn’t

available. Henrietta knows all about substituting one herb for another (or a

few others); there are no herb shops in Finland! She’ll be talking about her

experiences and give hints and tips.

But above all, Henrietta will share her love and passion for herbs.

Balen

Risk Management in Your Practice

has many years experience in the Insurance industry and specialises in

insurance for the complementary and alternative health sector. He will be

talking about the risks involved in a health practice today and ways to

minimise those risks.

Elly MacGregor Hodgkiss

Practical Techniques in Using Herbs in the Clinic or at Home

A practical demonstration of using topical treatments in the clinic through

the use of compresses, liniments, poultices – both hot and cold applications

and much more…

Elly is a Medical Herbalist and Sports Injury

Therapist who combines her skills in Aromatherapy and Massage in her

everyday practice
