Klonopen is not an antidepressant, but it does have good anti-anxiety benefits. It is a benzodiazepine drug very similar to Valium, but with less side effects. It is primarily used as an anti-convulsant. In my situation when the doctors discovered that I was not responding to the anti-depressants they had prescribed they finally listened to me. I had already told them several times that when the pain crossed above an 8 out of 10 that I would become extremely anxious because I knew that I couldn't handle the pain if it went above a level 9 out of 10. Finally they agreed and prescribed Klonopin for its known anti-anxiety affects. It worked. When the pain climbed to the anxiety point I'd take a Klonopin and the rest of the day would be tolerable instead of intolerable.
