Guest guest
Howdy Everyone, Im so excited I cant wait! I saw my Specialist yesterday and he going to try to help me. Its a good thing I took all my Xrays and MRIs because they didnt have them. Plus, I had alot of information that I learned from this Group! He will be fusing L4-5 together and decomressing S1 joint. There is NO disc and plenty of bone spurs he will clean out. I will only be in hospital 4-5 days and it should be done before Xmas. He also changed some of my meds. Took me off the Precocette and put me on Oxycontin 20-30mg 2xday. I have started with the 20mg and am feeling ok. I think at bedtime I will take 30mg and see how it goes. I also have started Zyban because... I have to QUIT smoking!!! Any helpful hints is greatly appreciated!! Guest guest
Hi, just curious if they are doing dic replacements in canada? I need a fusion, but am putting it off. You are using a neurosurgeon arent you? I had the decompression 2 weeks ago and I am shocked because right now I am pain free..granted on 150 mg duragesic and 16 mg dilaudid every 3 or 4 prn.....I am thinking now that I might not need the fusion or disc replacement....Debra

Guest guest
Hi Debra: Thank you for the encouraging news about the decompression! They do indeed do disc replacements here but, my Dr doesnt want to manipulate my spine any further to insert one. Right now the L4-5 is grinding against each other, so he will fuse them to become one. I am so glad your pain is subsiding. It makes me feel alot more confident in my decision to proceed with surgery. PS: I took the 30mg of Oxycontin last nite and I feel alot better today! I think Ill take 20 in AM and 30 in PM.
