Guest guest
Tom, it looks to be a good combination of substances very good 4many ppl, diabetic or not (maybe everybody!) who knows who will have Alzheimer, for exemple? and prevention is the best goal! liked it LOVE, Andreiahttp://msmemoriesandthoughts.bravehost.com Benfotiamine Hi Bill, I found this and thought you should look into it. Regards, Tom Benfotiamine blocks three major pathways of hyperglycemic damage and prevents experimental diabetic retinopathy.Hammes HP, Du X, Edelstein D, Taguchi T, Matsumura T, Ju Q, Lin J, Bierhaus A, Nawroth P, Hannak D, Neumaier M, Bergfeld R, Giardino I, Brownlee M.Medical Clinic V School of Clinical MedicineMannheim, Germany.Nat Med. 2003 Mar;9(3):294-9Abstract Three of the major biochemical pathways implicated in the pathogenesis of hyperglycemia induced vascular damage (the hexosamine pathway, the advanced glycation end product (AGE) formation pathway and the diacylglycerol (DAG)-protein kinase C (PKC) pathway) are activated by increased availability of the glycolytic metabolites glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate and fructose-6-phosphate. We have discovered that the lipid-soluble thiamine derivative benfotiamine can inhibit these three pathways, as well as hyperglycemia-associated NF-kappaB activation, by activating the pentose phosphate pathway enzyme transketolase, which converts glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate and fructose-6-phosphate into pentose-5-phosphates and other sugars. In retinas of diabetic animals, benfotiamine treatment inhibited these three pathways and NF-kappaB activation by activating transketolase, and also prevented experimental diabetic retinopathy. The ability of benfotiamine to inhibit three major pathways simultaneously might be clinically useful in preventing the development and progression of diabetic complications. Guest guest
Hi Bev, Yes it is available, just type in the word "Benfotiamine" in search and the sites will come up. It would also be good for us ms'er's. Regards, Tom thanks, she is ten and on a pump, diagnosed 6 1/2 years ago...but already had neuropathy...my brother had is also and had many problems....sometimes, no matter how good the care genetics wins....I wish I could remember what I first used with her ...Auyervedic (sp)...talked with a Dr. from India who sent this cup made of special tree bark for me to make a drink for her....she *honeymooned* for several years....we do what we can....sigh Beverlyhttp://www.parsonwhitestudios.com/-
