I got in 4 good run/walks (1 mile running, 3 power walking - 2 of which were up hill). One of the days I had to fight traffic and dust. The road I use is seldom travelled except by visitors/residents. It does, however, run from one spot on the highway to another and got used to divert traffic after an accident yesterday. Unlucky for me it was during my walk. The road is relatively narrow and dirt. Let me tell you it was no fun sharing it with 18 wheelers and cars going fast enough to kick up dirt and dust from the road! I had a goal for the days I was gone not to go over my calorie limit. It's tough when I don't have access to the computer but I did take breakfast and lunches with me, limited the alcohol I drank, avoided desserts and appetizers. I met my goal every day we were gone!Beckie asked if anyone was noticing weight loss. On April 15th I committed to start eating MUCH better then the challenge started for workouts in early May. I've been consistent with the exercise AND healthy eating since. After 5 weeks of not even an ounce of weight loss I have lost about 10 pounds, 12 inches (total from the 8 areas I measure) and about 4% body fat. I can suddenly wear a ton of summer clothes that sat in my closet last summer gathering dust. It's very cool to be able to wear my zip and button shorts instead of just the elastic waist ones. I even had on one of my swimsuits this weekend that didn't see the sun last summer. Of all the mini challenges milk/dairy is the toughest for me. I've never been a big fan of milk (not even as a kid). I just wish a serving size of milk and yogurt were ½ cup! Anyway I will be aiming for 3 servings of dairy daily. As Deb has said: "Fitness is a journey and it begins with the first step.""This isn't about weight loss, it's about enlightenment" -
