Guest guest
I do not have prostate cancer but my husband did and he died in 1998. His disease and the death process actually brought us closer together. It was something that we had to work on together. It forces us to take the time to evaluate what was really important in life. We leaned on each other to get through it. It was difficult but along with the grief I felt I also had many wonderful memories to keep with me to remember us by. Since he died, I have met and also lost many wonderful people that I would call my friends. They too have gone through a similar enlightenment. I gain something by knowing every one of them. They may not have even been aware of the profound influence they had on me. They too learned to focus on what was really important, family, friends who know how to care. It seems to make relationships that are healthy and strong grow and weeds out the people who I interrelated with on a more surface level. I have learned so much about cancer and this has given me a new direction for my life professionally. It is the first time in my life that I feel that I am truly making a difference for people. This is the inheritance that my husband's disease has given to me. Kathy How do you feel about prostate cancer? You may wish to comment on the worst aspects as far as you are concerned, but at least some of us can say some good has come from the diagnosis>I personally would probably not have travelled to the USA, India, the GreekIslands and Teneriffe if I hadn't been diagnosed.I also have met some great people too.
