Guest guest
Tori, That is FABULOUS that you are able to compete in a triathalon! I don't think I would bank too much on your individual performances, personally. I would be thankful and thrilled that you completed the triathalon and were able to do it. Myself, there is no way I would be able to. I was a 4 sport athlete back in my high school days, was heavily recruited in 3 sports for div 1 and 2 . I ended up being a 3 time All-American in college athletics back in the early 90's. I was diagnosed with MS in 2001 and am unable to do the simple-ist of things that I used to do. I am no longer able to play co-ed or womens volleyball like I used to. I am even unable to swim. The slightest of " workout " or even light physical therapy (tried that 2 times) makes me horribly bad for a week+. I am even unable to fold clothes out of the laundry without making my arms go crazy. I am admirable to read that people like you are still able to do things like you are doing. Keep it up gal! Guest guest
I tried to get it through my local chapter of the MS society, but the girl and I played phone tag for weeks, so I ended up finding it online through the Colorado or Oklahoma MS society, I can't remember. They charged $5, where mine would have only charged $1. Go here, and click on the link. http://www.msandyou.org/hot_news/hn_article.php3?show=172 & dept=1 Tori Re: Tori and triathalon Oh, I definitely am very thankful that I can even do it at all! The biggestreason I did this now is because my first major symptom of MS was my legbeing numb and clumsy. I couldn't drive, etc. and since I am ok at themoment, I really wanted to do it while I could. I am a little sad that I hadsuch a great time because I am pretty sure I won't be able to do thisforever. For some reason, since I have been pregnant and had the baby, I have beentotally fine (knocking on wood as I type this). The only thing that hashappened is that when I get hot or overtired, my leg makes me trip a tinybit, I can't find words, and I get a little dizzy. My run time wasdisappointing to me because I was so hot at the end, and couldn't run asfast as I know I can sometimes. I am definitely thankful that I can do itat all! I do know how lucky I am at the moment, but also know how quicklythat can change.I had an MS Ribbon of Hope pin on my race bag and about a million peopleasked what it was for. So, in my tiny way, I raised some awareness of whatMS is at the same time that I was having fun.Tori
