This is probably it:

Ingredients:

1Kg unsulphured dried apricots

1Kg molasses

3 Litres red Wine

5ml/Litre tinctures of Ginger, Gentian, Saw Palmetto, Yellow Dock, Damiana,

Nettle tops.

0.5ml/Litre tincture of Capsicum (optional)

Method:

Cover the apricots with water and simmer for 6 hours. Add molasses and simmer

for a further 2 hours. Cool, and liquidise in a blender. Add red wine, stir for

5 -10 minutes until pourable. Add the tinctures. 1 Kg apricots makes about 4

Litres tonic. Bottle it up in 500ml airtight bottles and keep refrigerated once

opened.

Dosage:

5 - 10 ml 3 times a day. 30ml per day is said to provide 2mg of absorbable iron.

It's delicious, of course

Yes it does sound good - might give this a go!

Can I just clarify the measurements - does it mean that for each litre of wine

you add 5ml of each of the tinctures (0.5ml in the case of Capsicum) - ie 15ml

of each tincture altogether?

Thanks

I thought it meant 5ml of each of the tinctures per litre, ie 15ml of each one,

making 45ml of the first six plus 1.5ml of Capsicum.

Yes, Frances, it does mean 5ml of each tincture per litre - at least that's what

I've always done and I've made several batches. So you end up putting a total of

90ml of the first 6 tinctures in, plus a dash of capsicum.

Hope that clarifies it or we could go on forever at this rate!

best wishes

Max

Ditto

I have made up several batches of this tonic and it always gives impressive

results. I used to find just a single dose of 10ml gave me a boost when I

was getting heavy periods.

Thank you to whoever posted up originally!

Oh yes of course - 90ml - don't know where that 45ml came from!

Anyway thanks for clearing that up and I look forward to bubbling up a lovely

iron-rich potion soon.
