Guest guest
My goodness Adrienne, You are building another full house! What a structure! Love it. I was admiring the pretty blue tile and saw a picture where they were tearing it out. OH NO! That was pretty. But, then I got a look at the windows and OOOOOh I love it. How I would have loved a place to paint in like that. I don't paint anymore, but it's nice to dream. I think of our creature comforts very often. I lived in Ohio for almost 16 years, and know the cold and dreary days south of Lake Erie. We went weeks at a time without seeing the sun. I am from warm sunny southern Florida. Need I say more? I don't think so. I love your new addition. Hope to see the finished product too. Sleeping positions in my opinion do make a difference. The stomach position does not allow for enough oxygen, hence all the symptoms he has. It isn't all Lewy. Babies can die from sleeping on their stomachs. That position pushes the stomach up into the diaphragm and causes the person to take in only a small amount of oxygen. An oxygen deprived person can be " very out of it. " Just my humble opinion. Love a lot, Imogene In a message dated 11/11/2008 6:57:58 PM Central Standard Time, i_whitehouse@... writes: Hi folks, I know I'll never catch up on all the posts but I just want to say hello and wish everyone an extra shred of sanity and calm to deal with Lewylife. When things get bad it's good to consider the things that are good. I for one am very grateful for indoor plumbing, heat and air, green tea and the seemingly infinite variety of cheeses. This episode of life would be soooo much harder without creature comforts we often take for granted. I'd like your observations about sleeping positions. When my father sleeps on his back or side, he can usually talk in the morning and recognize us. On his stomach, his face gets swollen, he usually sleeps hours later, can't figure how to get out of bed, doesn't know us and is combative. I'm wondering if it's 100% a Lewy thing or if there's something else afoot. BTW, the addition for my parents and my photo studio should be completed around the end of November or beginning of December. I figured I could only be 3 places at once if those 3 places are in one place. I'll know if my theory is correct in a few weeks. Here's a link with construction photos if you like that sort of thing. http://flickr.com/photos/studio1108 Adrienne See what's new at www.FigurePhotos.com & www.AnacostiaFineArt.com Be my friend on MySpace http://www.myspace.com/figurephotos **************AOL Search: Your one stop for directions, recipes and all other Holiday needs. Guest guest
Imogene, you are absolutely brilliant! BRILLIANT I tell ya!!! First you spotted dad's shingles, now this. Thanks so much. I'm allergic to kids and have never been around babies so I would not have figured that out When he had that breakout I didn't think it could be shingles because I knew his meds were causing the problem but I went ahead and gave him a homeopathic remedy for shingles since you called it and it cleared up. I showed his doc the pix and he said it was shingles and the meds didn't do it. When we started giving him his meds again a few weeks later he started swelling and blistering within 30 minutes so we gave him the shingles stuff, stopped the meds and haven't had a problem since then. I told my mom what you said about oxygen deprivation and she will make sure he never sleeps on his stomach again. A few nights ago she was too tired to roll him on his back and we had a terrible time. Not only did he urinate profusely in bed, he had a bm and wouldn't roll over after mom cleaned the back. He laid on his urine soaked chucks till late afternoon when I arrived. He was hungry by then and tried to eat the chucks. I shoved a fig bar in his mouth and wrestled the soaked chucks from him. We had quite a time but I eventually got him out the bed and wheeled him in the bathroom. Thank goodness he can't walk and is much weaker than a few months ago because he tried his best to do me. He was a mad man and now I see why. Thanks so much Imogene. You're the bestest!!
