Guest guest
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this. It was what I needed to read at this particular moment, so came as grace. I'd heard about the Threshold Singers but had no idea how to reach them. I'm hoping it might fit with the rather chaotic pieces of my life, as I'd love to do this. A friend to whom I sent the story told me that she'd just received a series of articles about a 70 year old farmer and his wife with advanced Altzheimer's. The articles talked about how he handled the increasing load of farming, household chores and caring for her, and talked about their relationship. He was committed to having her remain in her own home. One quite insensitive doctor had said that it didn't matter where she was, that advanced Altzheimer's patients were just like potted plants. The final article told of the ending of her life, when she was apparently completely comatose. They had the priest come to give her Last Rites. When he blessed her, this " potted plant " slowly and carefully crossed herself. I also recall the story a client told me. Her grandmother was in the county LTC facility here, and had been unresponsive for a long time. Nevertheless, my client visited her faithfully, read to her, and told her about her week, assuming that on some level she was being heard. I had recently taken my client through a leisurely guided meditation journey that she'd found especially helpful. One day when she came to visit her grandmother, she was told that the woman's blood pressure was critically high and that they had been unable to bring it down into a safe range. My client, not knowing how else to help, decided to take her comatose grandmother through the guided meditation. When the nurse returned to check grandmother's blood pressure, it was normal. I'm convinced that our current concepts of what constitutes consciousness and what is signified by brain activity on EEGs and such is so primitive that trying to draw any truly valid conclusions from them is pretty futile. I'm glad you and Maureen found this article helpful. Just reading your posts this morning gave me chills all over all over again. Synchronicity uses rather interesting instruments, it seems.
