Guest guest
Our conference is every other year. So, we do NOT have one this year! We are having our next one in 2009! Plenty of time for planning!! Our conference is very unique and we do have a Kid Konference where the children are supervised by Genetic Students and we bring in a variety of presenters that teach them different fun things. (last year we had Karate, Dance, Acting, Music and Art to name a few) We will break the children up into 3 age groups so they can have lots of fun! (on a side note, the Kid Konference is also for Siblings, so anyone who has more than one child is welcome to bring them all!) We also offer a Youth Conference and this year we will be splitting them up into 2 age groups. This conference is for ages 14 through adult. That conference allows lots of fun things and also some good information on living independently, getting a job, going to college, etc.. Our Main conference this coming year will have at least 3 break out sessions. (last year we had two) We invite speakers of all topics so no matter if you have a new born baby or an adult with Ds or MDS you will benefit from the conference. Other interesting and fun things we do are: Throughout Friday various researchers conduct research on site with participants Friday evening we have our FAMILY REUNION where everyone gets together and just visits and the kids play. During this time, we offer refreshments and also have our silent auction. Saturday evening we have our Banquet. During the banquet we invite a self-advocate to speak which is very inspirational and we give out awards. During this time, our Youth will sing a song they learned at their conference and the kids will either sing a song or do a skit. We end our banquet with a wonderful slide show presentation done to music highlighting all of the children at the conference. Then, after the banquet everyone DANCES!!!!!!!!!!! You can see information about our past conference as well as some funny, interesting and .... a bit crazy picture that were taken last year! Just go to: http://www.imdsa.org/Conference/conference.htm and click on the conference links!!! You have a year to plan!!!! You HAVE TO COME!!!! LOL Kristy Subject: Re: A Small Percentage?? I would love to attend but just dont see how I could pull it off. I live in NC so I would have to fly in. Also am I right in understanding I can bring Hailey with me? Will there be child care while Im in the conference? I would need more time to plan attending. It is my wishes that yall will have another one at a later date and hopefully I could come to that one. > > From: jhockelaol (DOT) com <jhockelaol (DOT) com> > Subject: Re: A Small Percentage??
