Hi Carol - The nursing home where my mother lives does not have

railings on the beds for exactly that reason: crawling either over

them or down to the foot of the bed where they can fall. The beds at

my mom's nursing home has the ability to go down as low as 6 inches

off the floor -- they do that for those who have a tendancy to fall.

My mother was in that category at certain times and they would do

just that.

If you go to our links page:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/LBDcaregivers/links

There is a folder entitled:

Home Safety & LO Safety

Make your home safe for your LO. Suggestions to make your LO safe in

their situation - i.e. within their wheelchair, as they move around,

etc.

Within that folder is a link to Fall Management that has many devices

to prevent falls from the bed like mats on the side of the bed. But

if the beds in your mom's nursing home can be lowered and the

railings removed -- than that's what I would suggest.

when she was observed/tested in a hospital in 10/05); in a NH since

as weepy); as of 4/21 on Exelon (a/o 6/28 began following the

suggested dosage for LBD); as of 7/1 went on ALA (200 mg) and B1.
