Guest guest
About a year and 1/2 ago, I had a flairup of bronchitis, coughing and ect. I wasn't on inhalers and my airflow wasn't that bad. I had no trouble getting my breath, even with smoking cigarettes. I had some allergies but really didn't have any trouble with them. I carried combivent but very rarely had to use. I went to my allergist to get antibiotics for my bronchitis, and the nurse practitioner put me on advair. I was on it for about two months and I came down with an exacerbation, which I had never had before. I knew it was the advair. I went back and they put me on antibiotics. I got over the bronchitis but my breathing had really gone down hill. I was having to use combivent every two hours. I went back to the allergist and my breathing was down to 125 on the peak flow meter. She immediately put me on prednisone and alvesco and albuterol with a nebulizer. And I immediately quit smoking. Its been a year and 1/2 and I still use my nebulizer 5 times a day and the alvesco twice a day. I'm 62 and I never had these kind of problems before using advair. It has really compromised the way my lungs function. I would appreciate any help or advice I can get on this matter. Thanks in advance, Deb
Guest guest
Deb,I wish I could be of some help. It is possible that the Advair is not the cause. As our bodies age, our conditions can suddenly get worse with no warning. However, I am not saying it is not the Advair either. That is for you and your doctor to decide. I do know that Symbicort (kissing cousin to Advair) has been a very good drug for me. I hope you can figure this out. I know how frustrating it is to not have answers.MadelineTo: asthma Sent: Monday, November 15, 2010 3:00 PMSubject: advair side effects About a year and 1/2 ago, I had a flairup of bronchitis, coughing and ect.
