Guest guest Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 Overall, from what I've seen and done, I really am impressed with the '04 series, I know that Collage Video got some pretty bad reviews, hey that's fine, it'd be kind of boring if we all agreed on the same thing. It seems that is more intent on toning and sculpting, than just the cardio, which is what I need. I get a lot of cardio walking in the mornings, but I really need to focus on my form. So far, I'm impressed, and sore. By the Way, I do drink anywhere from 24-32 oz water during workouts, it was just my (apparently) lame attempt at humor. J-Loewe Quote
Guest guest Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 Yes, I was wondering what that would do as well. Thinking 1/2 pound wouldn't do much. But you definitely can feel and tell the difference. After doing those workouts with the ball, I did a different one without the balls and my punches felt so different afterwards. Guest guest Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 I'd put it as a midway between basic and intermediate. Not as difficult as an intermediate workout, but still not a basic. Actually to me, it's easier than the basics. I say this, because of the intensity and pace of the basics we're used to. But someone new to Tae Bo, might find it harder. I dunno. I still like them, for the "easy" days and all. The pace and all is similar to cardio and flex, but the balls is what makes the difference. He used the balls in Power and Strength. He doesn't use it in Energy. He has you squeeze the ball when you execute the moves. So like at the point of contact during the punches. It's not a hard squeeze, just enough feel it. So you really couldn't use hand weights in place of it, since he has us squeezing the ball during these moves. My water consumption varies, I think my hydration level plays into it as well. Some of the higher cardio workouts, I finish my bottle and then could use more. Some I barely touch my water and others, I get maybe half way. I use a 32 oz. water bottle. I know has said that as your cardio level keeps getting better and better, you'll find that you don't need to have water at all during your workouts. says he doesn't drink water at all during his workouts and I've never seen him. I know he's not fond of water in his combat classes (at least he was that way a few years back). knows first hand about that. Guest guest Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 >I'd put it as a midway between basic and intermediate. Not as difficult as an intermediate workout, but still not a basic. thanks sandie! i guess you would call that a 'high beginner/low intermediate'. > The pace and all is similar to cardio and flex, but the balls is what makes the difference. ok, good. this is the info that i am looking for. if ENERGY is similar to CARDIO and FLEX then i dont need it (since i do have CARDIO and FLEX > I know has said that as your cardio level keeps getting better and better, you'll find that you don't need to have water at all during your workouts. well, i dunno about billy but i do think that i will continue to want water when i workout. i have always drank water before, during and after and cant see that changing much. i can see billy and shellie not needing water for a 30 or 45 minute workout but me?? nope.. i gotta have drinks! especially while doing cardio. ive wondered about some of the other people in the workouts though and how they manage to make it through while dry. certainly they are not at the same fitness level as billy and shellie and julieann, etc. it just doesnt seem healthy to me to not drink water when i need it, ya know? sometimes my mouth gets so dry while working out that i cant swallow (and i do drink 16 ounces of water before starting my workout each day). i guess i do alot of mouth-breathing. ::shrug:: > says he doesn't drink water at all during his workouts and I've never seen him. I know he's not fond of water in his combat classes >(at least he was that way a few years back). knows first hand about that. oh yeah! amanda did tell us about that. i dunno... i do suppose that billy would feel that i was stopping too much to drink but i dont feel that i do it to be lazy. basically i avoid over-exerting so that i dont cause an asthma attack...lol... and if im going to walk around the kitchen and im thirsty then i might as well have a drink while im doing it. its a good thing that billy is not really here with me, eh? heehee. -carolyn. --- Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Guest guest Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 > It seems that is more intent on toning > and sculpting, than just the cardio, which is what I need. ahhh, ok. thanks jerry! i am used to using taebo for high intensity cardio... i get my toning/sculpting from other sources (weighted workouts like the firm and kathy smith and slim series, etc)... so im kinda bummed that billy has slowed the pace down and is using these little weights. oh well! i have lots of other taebo videos to use for cardio so it really isnt that big of a deal. i am thrilled that you are enjoying the workouts!! keep up the good work! > By the Way, I do drink anywhere from 24-32 oz water during > workouts, it was just my (apparently) lame attempt at humor. lame?!?! never!!! i like your sense of humour. please keep posting and telling us what you are up to! -carolyn. --- Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Guest guest Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 I think the folks who gave it the bad reviews are used to the "killer" cardio we're all used to from the Live! series. But we've been asking for years for weight training and now that we finally have it, some folks don't want it. But I do like the slower pace and weight/resistance focus. No matter what, I'm always going to get everyone of them and will do them. Some will be my absolute favorites, while others I won't like, but will do it in my rotation at some point. I try to keep my favorites for last, otherwise I'll keep doing them over and over. But I mark them off after I've done them. I still have a few to do, to complete my notes, but once I'm done, then I'll restart my rotation. Guest guest Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 Hey , A year ago I stopped TaeBo'ing when I joined a health club, turned out to be the BEST thing that ever happened to me!! Why, because it made me realize that I was taking this awesome feeling for granted, the day I started back, wasn't easy, but the smile appeared soon thereafter. Don't worry about the weight, as you said, you did it once, you'll do it again, I'm banking on you, don't let me down...:-) I'm watching...:-) Now go kick some but, it's not that you CAN do it, you WILL do it.
