Guest guest
Dear all, I received a call this am from a local GP who has benign fascicular syndrome. He has intermittent fine muscle twitching , in his arms and under eyes. He apparently has had plenty of investigations and more sinister underlying conditions ruled out. He could take anti epileptic medication, which he doesn`t want to do. he also takes magnesium and vit B supplements. He has read somewhere about turmeric and other various " spices " being beneficial. That is why he rung me. I have no experience with this syndrome and would appreciate any info and advice. Thankyou Janine
Guest guest
Sorry forgot to say he has had the problem for some years and it is worse when stressed and tired. It occurs on a daily basis but doesn`t stop normal activities, neither does it interfere with his sleep. Guest guest
Hello Janine, I know someone with this condition. Not a patient, so can't really comment on treatment. I sometimes make him a bottle of medicine, but he uses it for intermittent aches and pains and anyway is not especially compliant. His fasiculation is in his calf muscles, usually in one leg only, sometimes observable above the knee. I am convinced it arises from a herniated disc and subsequent sciatica that he suffered with several years ago. He also has restless leg syndrome. Has your patient ever had a whiplash injury or similar? I recommend craniosacral therapy for all conditions and complaints that involve the nervous system and CNS. As for herbs: I'd think of Hypericum, Vib. op. and Avena for starters. I'll follow this thread with interest Best wishes Cristina > > >Dear all, >I received a call this am from a local GP who has benign fascicular >syndrome. Guest guest
My first choice is always magnesium - the GP may not be taking enough. My lcients take mag cit powder to bowel tolerance - usually 11/2 tsp at night. Second choice is potassium (check meds) and third would be Vit E.
