Guest guest
Kristy, I wonder if it has something to do with the fibro, being able to take narcotics without the nausea. I also don't get high off of any of them. Everyone warned me that the MS-Contin would turn me into a mindless robot, unable to function, but I'm doing pretty well on it. I can't really tell I'm taking it, except that the pain slowly disappears, at least partially. My back is still aching and burning, but I'm happy to feel some relief. I had endometriosis most of my life, and it was horrible. About 10 years ago my gynecologist wanted to do a D & C on me, he said it would stop the heavy bleeding, and he explained the procedure he'd be using. Then I watched ER a couple of nights later, and someone on the show died from that exact procedure. I decided right then I wouldn't have it! cyn At 12:59 PM 8/10/2004 -0700, Kristy Sokoloski wrote: >Cyn, > >I thought I was the only one that didn't get sick from taking >narcotics. Guest guest
Wow, we all sound so much alike! I had migraines from the time I was 10 years old, sometimes they'd last for 3 days, and I always got the worst ones around that time of the month. I take Maxalt, I think it works better than anything else I've tried. I prefer the kind that melts on your tongue. Then last year I was in a Botox study, to see if it would help with migraines. It really worked. My headaches went from being nearly constant to coming around that time of the month, a couple of days before and then when it's over. That is such a wonderful relief. For years I focused completely on my migraines and wasn't aware of the other things going on with my body. Then once the migraines ended, I discovered all the other pain of FMS. And it took the doctors a year to figure out what was wrong with me. cyn At 02:07 PM 8/10/2004 -0700, wrote: >I have endrometriosis too... along with migraines. Guest guest
I don't drink at all any more, but I did in college. It was my first real experience with alcohol (my Grandparents were Italian, and they allowed us kids to have a glass of wine with our dinners). My college boyfriend was surprised at my capacity for alcohol. cyn At 07:03 AM 8/11/2004 -0700, Tarvin wrote: >Just out of curiousity, can the same be said for you guys and alchohol? > >I wonder because although I do not drink that much or that often, I have >gone out once in a blue moon to specifically get drunk with friends (3 or >4 times total in my adult life) and I have never once gotten more than a >slight buzz (after SEVERAL heavy drinks and different types) and also have >never had a hang over. Guest guest
Hmmm, I wonder if a higher tolerance to alcohol is part of FMS. I remember one night I was drinking Margueritas at a friend's house, and she made them strong. After the 5th one, she noticed my lip was bleeding....it turned out the glass had a nick in it and cut my lip. I just put Blistex on it and kept on drinking. I just felt mellow, walked out to the car just fine, and never got sick or had a hangover. Now the only thing I drink is Saki, when we go out to our favorite Japanese restaurant. I can drink 2 or 3 or those little bottles, heated up. It tastes like rocket fuel, lol, but I like it. It actually makes me feel more hungry, and I can eat more when I'm drinking it. cyn At 01:01 PM 8/11/2004 -0700, wrote: >Nono, I used to be able to drink all my guy friend's under the table!
