Guest guest
Hi Joy Thanks for your email. Have had the same doc for 20 years now and i think sometimes he thinks I worry too much from past diagnosis of anxiety. However if I ask to be referred he always sends me so he is great that way and he is a good doctor with his diagnosis most of the time. All of last year I was seeing a lung specialist and had sleep study and a bronchoprovocation test(which is horrible) At the end of the test they give you ventolin to get your lungs feeling better again but I had the opposite, it made my breathing worse. The specialist came in and checked me over and just said to go outside for some fresh air and eventually I came good again. I recently saw a ENT guy who said I should drink more water that i was dehydrated and my throat looked fine. What I cant make them understand is I wake at night gasping and during the day my nose feels so dry and when I talk at times I lose my breath cos my nose feels like I am breathing dust. Then I start to yawn but it gets cut short and this can go on for hours, as if I am not getting enough oxygen so my body tried yawning to compensate for it. I also have TMJ so thinking maybe a good idea to try a night splint on my teeth to see if that would help with the breathing at night. This week I am getting the results of a CT spine as I have a shocking pain which is worse from moving a mattress last June and also this wednesday will be getting a cortisone injection for tennis elbow EEEk that worries me, wonder who in the group have had that? I am in my 50's and still feel mentally like a teenager so want a bit of living yet. Too stubborn to give in just yet LOL Oh I also have fibromyalgia which at present is quiet as the backpain has taken over Hope you are well Cheers Lee Re: Lee Hi Lee,How’ve you been? Getting anywhere w your doc. Is it poss for you to try another doctor? (You can request your records be sent from the old doc to the new one when you decide.) getting a doc on your side, will help you, it’s vitally important because bronc isn’t only about your lungs, it affects your health and well-being totally.Re the feeling like you’re breathing dust – could mean an infx. There are phases in infx, and variations depending on the cuase of the infx – a hot dry, sometimes burning – suffocating feeling is when Candida (thrush) was at it’s worst. When pseudomonas is the culprit (and other bacterial infx) my lungs feel heavy, wet and cold. Sometimes I feel like I’m drowning on the inside. For the hot dryness, maybe try doing ventolin puffer, if you can buy it w/out prescription at low cost. At least, if you have gunk not coming up it will help, and it eases the rigidity of your airways and makes breathing feel more easy. Doesn’t matter if you have asthma or no, it has no real side effects, and can be beneficial while you look for answers.Do persist with a doc, I don’t know how old you are, but this is something which, if we can get what is needed at the right time, can improve our chance or some quality of life as we age ...ah, and isn’t that a can of worms!!Don’t despair, get educated, search the web, search a doctor and ask questions. If they can’t be bothered they’re wasting your chance of quality of life now – and many years down the track... It is that important, no less. You deserve no less.Happy searching, and keep in touch... Guest guest
Hi Lee, Just a couple of quick points: Tennis elbow cortisone – only once or twice, no more than, too risky... Also, check out risks for bone mass ?? Really not sure about throat/nasal soreness. Try keeping a log, be insistent. Having so many yrs w this I also have experienced the somewhat patronising ‘run along now, you’re fine...’ (grrr!) TMJ – can cause lots probs, tinnitus, headaches, eye soreness ... ... Probably other things as well, I had splint for some time, huge improvement, and wasn’t nearly as uncomfortable as I thought, and I didn’t wake w aching teeth and headache (from grinding in my sleep). I agree, 50ish is too young to drop it all just yet, but you do have a lot to cope with. Tai Chi and similar can really help w stiffness and achey probs, eg FM, have you tried?? Must ‘dash’, and don’t give in yet! Cheers, Joy -- -- " Wealth is nothing, position is nothing, fame is nothing. Who you become inside is everything. Guest guest
Good to hear from you Lee.... I truly understand... I get to go online to download whatever is on server while I’m in hospital, about halfway through, but by then most are so out of date by the time I have enough energy to look thru them... At least if there’s anything I really need to know about it’s still there.. Aren’t doing too well either, had 2nd bronchoscopy on Friday – very little sedation.....if I’ve been really bad and go to hell when I die I’ll sure be in familiar territory!!!!!! (that’s er, tongue in cheek....) Both groups pretty quiet at lately.... Or maybe I just missed the juicy bits! Wishing you the absolute best, you’re a gem... joy
