Guest guest
Dear Imogene, I think you have hit the nail right on the head! After Mum's dx she became quite agitated because she didn't know how to 'deal' with what was happening - an intelligent, competent woman who had coped with a number of family crises (including teenage me!). We met with a very compassionate, wise lady. Barb told BOTH of us that the first step was to accept the " new normal " . Dad and I have used this term often. It seems to comfort Mum. Later in the meeting Barb looked me straight in the eye, making sure that Mum was paying attention, and told me very clearly that I would have to be the one to change because Mum could not. I saw the look of relief on Mum's face. I will be forever grateful for that meeting. Barb laid things on the line. She explained things clearly. Mum got comfort. I was given some direction. - Kingston, Ontario, Canada Lo Mum 88(dx Jan. 05) and Dad 92 live with me. 25mg of Seroquel at bedtime only LBD related drug, so far --------------------------------- New Yahoo!
