Guest guest
Have you tried xylitol for a sweetener? My son likes it; he didn't like stevia. I'm wondering if the reaction to corn syrup could be a corn issue, perhaps in addition to a sugar issue? Or she could be sensitive to corn syrup because it's not a real, natural food -- has been processed heavily. Also, what kind of drink do you use to hide the OLE and other bitter supplements? I'm asking because I have a hard time getting these down my son and am looking for some new ideas on this. Our NT daughter has trouble with sugars. The worst is corn syrup which causes hives and vomiting. But all sugars cause her to have metabolizing problems. Treating her for yeast did help the problem but it was still occurring. Her chiropractors says it is hypoglycemia based on adrenal exhaustion. Our autistic son cannot tolerate any sugars, but that is because he has twelve ulcerative lesions in his small bowel and is deficient in enzymes to digest the sugars. Even supplementing enzymes did not help. We are working on healing his GI so he can make his own enzymes. All those supplements that every other kid rejects as bitter (such as OLE), I dump into his sippy cup and he drains them down without a fuss -- but give him anything that's sweet and he refuses it knowing it will cause him severe GI distress.
