Guest guest
Hello to all, My name is Mimi to most . This is the name given to me by my granddaughters. It makes me smile to hear it and boy do I need to smile. 3 yrs. ago I went to my PCP asking for an MRI as I was experiencing nerve pain in my feet and toes. At the same time I was having several surgeries on both my hands for trigger fingers. I thought maybe I had a pinched nerve in my neck so he sent me . What they saw was at the end of the cervical area a Syrinx so they had me come back for more MRI's with and without dye. Conclusion was SM . Enlargement of the central canalof the thoracic spinal cord especially at T10,T5,T6 and T7 and opposite T3 and T4 Evidence of SM involving the entire Thoracic spinal cord most pronounced opposite T5 and T6........Now that was a mouthful and I was in shock... What to do ? I asked for consult with an NL who did not know what to say to me then a NS who said go home and live your life while you can.... Now I am having terrible shaking, tingling and numbness in my feet, legs and neck...oh my head too....they said no sign of tonsillar herniation at foramen magnum....... So here I am looking for some comfort answers and questions...I am gong to apply to TCI for an exam. I hope it doesnt take too long . I heard maybe 6wks.....Oh . I had Lyme Diease in my Central nervous system 8 yrs ago.I had a PIC line with Roceftin pumped into my brain for 1 month and I wonder if that didnt start this whole thing???? No one can answer that one? My sister who is 20 yrs older than me has CM and has had the operation at TCI...so maybe it is in the family ???but she has only a small syrinx....anyways Thanks for listening and I hope to talk to someone here for help.........thanks a lot...
