Guest guest
As I see it, Asthma related deaths will happen whether you are on meds or not. Each person must choose. As you can see I am in a bad mood. Guest guest
I think that is only going to add to the confusion of people who are being put on these meds who may not realize that they can be very beneficial. I can see the labeling on Foradil b/c there is no additional med with it (I dont know about the other meds besides advair, foradil and symbicort). It would seem to me that the FDA review board seems to have an agenda against combination meds. Guest guest
Serevent is another that doesn't have a steroid with it - it's teh LABA in Seretide (what you call Advair)I think Ann is right in saying it seems to be an FDA thing: http://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/document.aspx?documentId=4416 On the page the link takes you to there is a link to download a copy of the info leaflet contained in Seretide in the UK - there is none of the warnings that a lot of you haev come across. How does it compare to the leaflet for use in America? This takes you to the accuhaler version, whereas I have the MDI, but the side effects would be the same still.Even the info contained within my contact lenses say that it's different for America, and to request the American version if applicable (I'm assuming if they are being shipped over for use there)!JennTha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! Guest guest
you can still use inhaled dry powder inhalers unless you are allergic to those too. They wont have any propellents.. Guest guest
I use the Advair diskus with the steroid and controller. It's dry powder, no propellant. You literally have to suck it out of the diskus. To: asthma Sent: Fri, July 23, 2010 12:44:11 PMSubject: Re: Re: FDA Announces Implementation of Changes to LABA Labels What about the powder ones? Guest guest
Lettie, It's up to you but my doctor said continue the Advair even after I was breathing better. It keeps me breathing fairly well. I can tell a difference when I forget to use it for a day or more. I do have an instruction sheet and it says not to stop using it without consulting your doctor, but it doesn't say anything about stopping suddenly doing any harm. Hope this helps. From: "LettieLou@..." To: asthma Sent: Sat, July 24, 2010 9:53:26 AMSubject: Re: FDA Announces Implementation of Changes to LABA Labels In a message dated 7/22/2010 10:58:22 A.M. Guest guest
Ok, I don't know if the Advair causes all that. I've not had any issues but each of us is different. Talk your concerns over with your doctor. I use the 500/50 myself. I wonder if another of your meds could be causing problems. To: asthma Sent: Sun, July 25, 2010 4:18:01 PMSubject: Re: FDA Announces Implementation of Changes to LABA Labels thanks so much for checking I looked all over the web and couldn't find anything my Dr had given me samples and since my dh had emergency surgery I had to change my appt for a few weeks later So I am almost done with this one he gave me a sample that's double the dose and I am afraid to start it I had the 250 and this one he gave me is 500 I took one puff a day of the 250 I am leery due to confusion and hair falling out and dizziness and I was going to say that my equilibrium was off but I don't have any lol Lettie
Guest guest
My doctor gave me a sample (the 45/21 one) but he didn't say how to stop using it. It had a few puffs left and then I lost it. Didn't have any problems by not using it though. I did have one problem with it though - I used it as a rescue inhaler accidentally one morning and thought I was going to die because I couldn't breathe. Guest guest
you shouldnt stop it abruptly, and more than likely the advair is at least a part of the reason you are breathing better I would definitely check with your doctor.
