It is the starches, cereals that drive your sugars up, toast, pancakes, pizza, pasta, rice, corn, potato must be limited. Guest guest
Debbie, I have a Dex and found it to be very erratic so I retired it. What I have found to be very good meters are the Glucometer Elite XL, Lifescan Fast Take, Precision QID. All of these are very accurate and can be downloaded to your PC. I have never paid for a meter only the strips. fp Re: depression > > > > > >> >> >>What kind of meter did you get, Debbie? >>fp > > >I bought a DEX Glucometer by Bayer. Guest guest
I am presentlly using the Advantage ACCU-CHECK and have had no trouble with it. I also . I have been told it can be downloaded to my computer but I haven't found the software yet. I used to use the Glucometer Elite by Bayer which I was quite satisfied with. My new insurance won't pay for the strips so I had to change to Advantage.

Guest guest
Debbie, I ran a parallel check with the dex and Elite and others and the readings on the others were the same as previous where the Dex was all over the map. I had a reaction once that could have been a disaster, fortunately was not and that was caused by one of those erratic readings. Right after that I retired it. fp Re: depression > > > >>Debbie, I have a Dex and found it to be very erratic so I retired it. Guest guest
Oh, and how do ya gettem for free......?? Well sometimes ya have to cry or beg or do whatever it takes to convince them(the Manufacturer that is) that it's in their best interest to do so. Lets face it, and they know it too, the money is made on the test strips not the meters. fp PS.. Roche is tough I'll admit, but I just got a $75.00 discount certificate from them for their new " Manager " meter. Price in the stores is $120.00. But I'm still workin on 'em. It's a new meter it may take some time before we can get a freebee. Re: depression > > > >>Debbie, I have a Dex and found it to be very erratic so I retired it. Guest guest
I have a Select GT meter and it was free from a company in Pa, by the name of Neighborcare. I lost my meter and they replaced it at no cost to me. I was surprised because I didn't realize it was free. is right the cost is in the strips. Guest guest
Debbie: I enjoyed your note. Seems like most people on this list love the Lord. I'm so glad I found you all (that's just the way I talk - being from TN). I have just got to get down to business. I will do a good breakfast like my meal plan, sometimes lunch and then blow it!! Guest guest
Just a thought -- my diabetes nurse educator told us in class that sometimes you could call the company and tell them that you have such and such meter and would like to try theirs....lots of times they will send one for free. The Complete downloads to a computer program called Accutility. Unfortunately, it runs about $35.
