Guest guest
Okay, I have to ask..... I have noticed that the majority of posts here seem to come from women. Are we more suceptible to fibro than men are? In a way I hope so, as I have a 7-yr-old son and I would hate for him to ever go through this. I have so much trouble doing things with him because I am either too tired or in too much pain. H*** it hurts to even be hugged sometimes. I try not to show it, but he has noticed. We co-rent an apartment with my folks (who are both disabled) and he has taken to imitating us using the canes we all have (I also have severe osteoarthritis in my knees and have to use a cane to walk sometimes). Anyway, for his granddad he will walk around with the cane and, acting like an old foggy, says " Ohhh..... I'm sooooooooo old. " With my mom it is " Ohhhh..... I'm soooooo old and cranky..... " And with me it is " Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow..... " When he ask him to do an imitation of himself he has the nerve to sing and tap dance.... LOL Oh, but it does lighten the day..... Guest guest
Here are some facts I found about Fibro and susceptibility: An estimated 4 to 6 million Americans have fibromyalgia. ~About 90% of all people with fibromyalgia are women. ~An estimated 8% of all women suffer with fibromyalgia. > Okay, I have to ask..... Guest guest
my husband and my son have been diagnosed with fibro.. dash susceptibility Okay, I have to ask..... While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general. 2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better. Have a nice day everyone. Guest guest
I don't know Tom. All the medical pages say that women are but that could be because women will actually go to a doctor easier than men will. I am sorry you have been diagnosed with fibro. It is very hard having to deal with family and friends who do not understand plus having to keep up with everything else in life. My hardest thing is having to force myself to get up every morning and go to work...there are so many mornings that I just want to SLEEP!!! especially after a night of getting up every hour or so. I know you will find a lot of support and help here in the group! > Hi : > > I don't know if women are more susceptible than we are. Right now I have trouble getting out of bed in the morning. I feel sore, have no energy and feel like I have no muscle tone at all. In the middle of the day I have to lie down because I'm so tired. My family and some of my close friends think this is job stress and getting older. I disagree. Normal, healthy 44-year-olds don't have their bodies fall apart over a 9-month span. I'm trying to figure out how to cope with this, deal with my various appts. AND look for a new job. I just hope I can get some answers from someone. > > Any suggestions for a place that has national doctor referrals in this? > > Tom
