Dear Theo,

Have you tried the new " Choice " bars from Mean/?

I got some to try in the mail. They are very good. I haven't really

studied all the ingredients, nor tested after eating. So, I don't want

to sound like I'm recommending them. But, they do taste good.

There is a phone number for more info: 1-.

Has anyone tried " Choice " and tested?

Dear Meenie,

It's weird that a candy bar made for diabetics does not have

nutrition info on it. Only has the ingredients. Maybe what I got is

just a sample. I had some paperwork come with it, but can't put my

hands on it right now. When I find the paperwork I'll write more.

I just wondered if anyone else got the candy bar?

Well, maybe at least semi-bad hehehe. Still a lot of sugar, I'm afraid..

And I can sympathize, I have a true and deep love of chocolate :)

There is only one real thing that will tell you, and that is how it affects

your weight loss ... and also does it create more cravings, cause I know if

I tried to eat a few choc. chips, I would end up eating them all :)

Chocolate Attack

From: theoj@... (theo janae)

Serious question, when continued existence absolutely depends upon

immediate supply of chocolate, what do you do???

I have resorted to eating a few chocolate chips, and hoping that

when they say semi-sweet, that means 'not bad'. What do you think???

When I absolutely HAVE to have chocolate, I make the jello sugar-free

chocolate pudding. It works for me!

Type 1 (1.5?) Protaphane twice a day 8 units +_ 250mg metformin day and night.

I eat chocolate all the time Milk chocolate has the least sucrose, but may have

lactose, but I think it is still lower in sugar than dark chocolate, even

semi-sweet.

I have to include the sugar in the chocolate in my carbs. Chocolate has a

lot of fat,

so that matters too.

Dear, Theo

My husband Steve has the same problem he has to have chocolate. I believe

they posted it on the diabetes webpage but there is a recipe for diabetic

fudge... make it and keep it on hand for when you really really need to fill

that chocolate void!!!! :) Lori

I find that every now and then, it's ok to have a choc bar that's high in

fat instead of a snack, because the fat will keep your sugar up (as apposed

to it going up then shooting down low). I wouldn't advice this for everyday

use though! Just when you REALLY GOTTA!

I got it, too, but I already had some in my " stash "

Here's the scoop:

claories - 140

from fat - 40

Total fat - 4.5g

saturated - 2.5g

cholesterol - <5mg

sodium - 80mg

potassium - 105 mg

total carbo - 19g

dietary fiber - 3 g

sugars - 9 g

protein - 6 g

Hope this helps.

package for you!! Not fair that we should have all these goodies at our

These numbers aren't very different from a " normal " chocolate bar. It still

has plenty of carbs, fat and sugar, What is the advantage of paying more for a

special diabetic bar, rather than buying a regular more satisfying bar (once

in a great while)?

The difference is that the Choice Bar is made with more complex carbohydrates.

It will not cause the dramatic peak in bg that a candy bar will. I use them

when I have had a late evening low, and want to eat something that will help

carry me through the night.

I'm in Australia, and we have jello, but not sugar-free. In fact, when i

lived in the US in 1997 and 1998, i was amazed at the amount of sugar-free

stuff you guys have! The only things we have here is carob, diet-cran drink,

diet choc topping (which tastes so bad!), um, that's all i can think of! It

sux! My sugar cravings come all the time, and i can't do anything about it!

It's torture! HELP!!!
