Guest guest
Hi, All! I had labs last week and saw my doc on Monday. Thyroid sonogram unchanged from last year. My remaining snippet of thyroid still has nodules, but they are unchanged. Free T3 4.1 (2.3-4.2) Free T4 1.5 (.73-1.95) The nurse failed to order a TSH and ordered thyroglobulin antibodies instead of serum thyroglobulin (a marker for thyroid cancer). I will get those next time. I had been taking 300 mg of porcine thyroid compounded with olive oil and adding 30 mg of ERFA Thyroid. I wanted to get a clear picture of any possible adverse effects from the ERFA, since I have a problem with fillers. Rather than getting my doc to write for some 30 mg caps that look just like my 60 mg caps, I decided to use what I had on hand. I dropped the ERFA altogether and added 30 mcg of compounded T4 and 5 mcg of compounded T3 to my 300 mg of thyroid in oil. I took the extra T3 with my morning dose, the T4 with my evening dose and slept very well. I was feeling pretty good, but not 100%. The doc looked at my labs and said, "Whatever you are doing, keep doing it." (This is a crucial juncture in my relationship with a new doc: he recognizes my ability to adjust my meds in a prudent manner.) But I had a hunch and added one more of the 5 mcg T3 caps. Bingo! My energy improved. I now have a semi-normal body temp (98.2!) for the first time. When I run out of the thyroid, I will go back to ERFA for a month and see if there is any difference in reactions to fillers. Don't try this at home, boyz and gurlz. I have my doc's permission to make small adjustments in my meds. Oink well and prosper! Your Fearless Leader, Jan
