Joyce, not MEXICAN, TEXAN! Claiming an aunt from San Antone, I can

say that ... it WAS good but, I can't do jalapenos anymore. And,

Huntington has one of the BEST Mexican places I've ever been to ...

Rio Grande, cooks (all with GREEN CARDS, by the way ... proudly

displayed therein) are all Mexicans. Great food and, good drinks!

Cheap and plentiful. I can even handle the refried beans! I had MY

front tooth chipped like that when I WAS 7. Guess its becoming a

family tradition???? Anyway, Lani IS better now ... dozing on and

off, having ice cream, pudding, jello and snack crackers. Her tummy

(and mine) seems settled.

Hi Ginger, I'm having a little problem walking too. I think it's because I'm not turning my O2 up enough when I get up from my chair. I am going to have to do better turning it up. It is scary to feel like your legs are going to go.. You take care and try turning up your O2 a L.. God Bless you... Peggy

Fred,

Sometimes I get homesick for those mountains. Haven't been back since our folks died. I remember the wildflowers in the hills being so beautiful in the spring.

Peggy,

I am coming to your house. I had a left over hamburger ...but I did have Rocky Road Ice Cream for dessert. You should have invited me. I could have brought the cornbread. I make it in a black skillet...buttermilk in it....yum yum. My grandkids eat it like cake.

You know, they make electric stoves now....doesn't your husband know that? If I waited on my husband to cook....it would be left over hamburgers every meal!

Hugs,

Originally, I was not a fan of this place ... thanks to a very nasty

boss at the Huntington Corps of Engineers who forced me to retire

and, nearly ruined my life ... but, I can appreciate it as well as

ensure our daughter has a good start. Ultimately we want to retire to

my wife's home (when my Dad is gone) in The Philippines. However, I

am on first name basis with the mayor, the sheriff, staff of 2 TV

stations and faculty of Marshall U. Couldn't do that in Chicago or,

NJ. But, like a fungus, it do grow on you.

HA Ha, I love cooking on a gas stove. Here in Fl. our power is always going out. Lighting, Hurricanes. Or just because.. So with gas you can always cook. Come on over. I too use a cast iron skillet. nothin like them, I have my Mothers.. even baked a cake.. LOL LOL he had a sweet tooth and did a good job.. I'm enjoying it. I am really getting used to being spoiled.

When we found out how bad this monster of a disease is I started " teaching " my husband how to care for the house and himself.. I'm afraid I spoiled him a little. But he is a really quick study. Now the bill paying thing is still a work in progress. If that were totally up to him we would have no power... He is pretty much devastated. I keep trying to build his spirit, he thinks I don't see his heart but 40 years teaches us a lot about each other.. God Bless you and your beautiful family... Peggy 9/04/ipf

You know, they make electric stoves now....doesn't your husband know that? If I waited on my husband to cook....it would be left over hamburgers every meal!

get some of the compensation that I feel should be due me ... fo my

family. That is why I am tring to link what I have been treated for

It seems to me if you were exposed to asbestos that's THE link to ipf. Have you had an open lung biopsy?

I didn't have one because the treatment would be the same so I opted not to. I'll be praying that you get what is coming to you, asbestos is a nasty thing. God Bless Fred... Peggy 9/04 ipf

The xray showed that the 5th rib was fractured, but healing. It's still painful, but I'm getting around. I baked a cake for the family party yesterday. Today, there is an outdoor festival near our house, so I'm taking my motorized chair and my husband and I are going to go for awhile. The weather here has been beautiful. The sun is out and there is a breeze....it's heavenly! Thanks for asking....hope everyone's having a nice weekend. And a big thank you to all the Veterans out there.

Diane,

You are not going to believe this. Either I am having sympathy pain for you or I have done it again. Now my right side is hurting. It is the same area as hurt on the left when those ribs were broken and the pain is the same. It is painful to lift my arm and hurts when I push or pull anything. The doctor offered no real treatment before so I don't see the necessity to go for x-rays. Just gave me pain pills. I am taking 4 advils at a time and that takes away the sharpness. I cough so hard and am using a percussion vest.....all part of the cause, but really hurts now. I know that this is from all the prednisone over the years. But, good grief! It took forever to heal the other time and is still tender. Oh well, no bear hugs for me. I was terrified someone was going to hug me at church today!

Moaning and groaning!

Joyce, OUCH! Just reading the description hurt. I have to tell you that I too spent the day at church dodging huggers. For some reason everyone I see squeezes me on the biopsy side. I am thinking of wearing a sign next week-"Hands Off!" Maybe we should all start blowing kisses like Ginger! janne5303 wrote: Diane, You are not going to believe this. Hello Diane, Reading your post this morning gave me pause. Yesterday (Sun) I started having pains in the lower rib area. By bedtime it was hurting big time over the entire rib area. Tooka strong med for pain and slept 3hrs. Stayed up an hour and started back on prednisone and I am getting some releif. Is that my imagination. We are going for blood work and another c-scan at lunch time. I remember from someone in this group that massaging the rib cage may help with the pain. I tried that and it seemed to work for me. It's 10:20 A.M. Anybody got any ideas about a good anti enflamatory drug other than prednisone. I was away for a few days e-mail stopped working..Help me out somebody....Grey

Diane,

What did your doc do for the pain. It is really hurting today. Advil is no longer helping. Been using my 'bed buddy' but it only helps temporarily. Whoever is sticking pins in my voodoo doll can stop NOW!

Hi honey....I regularly take MS Contin for osteoarthritis....I used to take 45 mg, but could not function...so then I went to 30 and now I take 15 mg. When I have pain from my rib, I take 30 mg and it does make it better....but it makes me so tired. I have so little energy anyway....I hate taking something else. I have been on all of the pain meds...but the morphine is best for bone pain. I had to go to a pain center to get that information....doctors are just starting to learn about how detrimental pain is with chronic conditions.

It's hard for some doctors to order morphine, tho....I was going to a large arthritis center in Philadelphia and they sent me to the pain center....when they recommended the morphine, the rheumatologist would NOT order it....so I left that practise. My arthritis is stable and I get morphine from my family doctor.

I don't think one dose of prednisone would help that quickly. I know a lot of you have problems with mucous....but I don't....if you cough a lot, you could crack your rib.....but I never cough. I hope they can also look at that area when they do your CT scan.
