Guest guest
I asked my doc about Elavil and he said that the newer drugs were better. I took Elavil over 20 years ago and did okay on it. But he won't prescribe it now. Cam Another miss directed letter! To: fibromyalgia_support_group Another that only commitee got. Please Welcome Luana! Hi, I'm a new person. I've been seeing rheumatoligst for shoulder pain who suggested I may have fibromyalgia. He also prescribed Elavil to help with sleep, which I have problems with, both getting to and staying asleep. Fatigue is my major problem and doing anything physical leaves me feeling achey and more tired than I usually am for several days afterwards. I'm curious if Elavil has helped with sleep or if anyone has any other suggestions for good sleep. Fatigue is more bearable with adequate sleep, but lately that's been a problem. Warm regards, Luana Love & God Bless! Guest guest
I have just switched to Elavil from Paxil. This is the second night of taking it and it's already making a huge difference! I really hope this keeps up. I've been looking for something that would help me sleep and would help with the pain for years and have found very few things that help a bit. Guest guest
Hi Cam, At first my doctors asked why I wanted to take Elavil when they have newer things like Paxil and Zoloft that are pretty much the same things. I had to push and push and visit the office a few times and leave many phone messages. Then, I finally printed out a new study from the ICA that said Elavil is proven to be effective for chronic pain and THEN and only then did the doctor listen. I told him that I already tried Paxil and it didn't help with anything except my headaches and I asked him to put himself in my shoes. Anything when you're in so much pain is worth a try. It's really a stab in the dark as to what our best treatment will be, but isn't it worth a try. I'm on my 2nd night of taking Elavil and it has helped me sleep through the night for the first time in years!! That is a HUGE thing for me. It does make me a bit groggy during the day, but it isn't terrible and any negative side effects usually wear off in a couple weeks. If you really feel strongly about something, don't be afraid of being pushy. Only you know what is best for your body. Guest guest
I took Elavil several years ago, and after I'd been on it for a few weeks I started having really disturbing dreams, and my husband said I was talking in my sleep and sleep-walking. I can remember waking up frantically, thinking I'd wet the bed. This happened several times, and I got off that stuff fast! I know different people react to different meds in different ways, but I just thought I'd toss that little warning out. cyn At 03:10 AM 8/7/2004 +0000, DS D wrote: >Hi Cam, > > >I'm on my 2nd night of taking Elavil and it has helped me sleep through the >night for the first time in years!!
