Guest guest
Hi Sharon, I too have been sent to a RH. He knew I was hurting because I could barely move but he couldn't prove I had RA. I don't! Thank Heavens it's all part of the ACM I believe. As for how to stop the pain. I've heard of trying fish oil from the health food stores and a number of others. I'll get the list of them and post it. I haven't had the money since my last surgery to get it and see if it works. But honestly it ends up being another battle of the Doctor saying there's nothing wrong to you saying than why do I hurt. I can't explain why my joints hurt so bad and why sometimes I can hardly move...but they do...and weather they believe me or not it's there and somehow I have to live with it or battle it. Good luck Sharon! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ eGroups.com home: /group/chiari - Simplifying group communications
Guest guest
You could hit him with a baseball bat and ask him if it hurts. Then tell him you hurt so many times more than that!! Just kidding- some days I would love to do that- but I am really a non-violent person. Look at Dayle Ann's chart for pain - I think she did a really nice job. Print it off. Show the doctor on the scale how much you hurt. Bring a family member who can help describe or verify your pain.(like if sometimes you have to lay in bed and cry cause you hurt so much.) My Doctor finally took notice when I told how much tylenol I used in a day. I was prescribed Ultram - better than tylenol - but not as good as darvocet or percocet. Good Luck!! It's very hard to do...especially when stuff is getting broken. But if there is any way for you and to leave the room and let him do his thing, you might find that after a few episodes, these times are not as long and not as violent. It seems to have worked somewhat with Sam Ron
Guest guest
Thea, Alec is on vacation for 2 weeks right now but I will talk to his teacher when we get back to school. He does do ABA as part of his daily school routine. Unfortuneatly noone can figure out exactly why Alec has this type of behavior. I mean, we know he is upset or frustrated or angry at times but sometimes that just isnt the case. He does do it for a reaction at times as well. He has always hit GReggory. From the time Alec was about 6 months or so Alec has hit and pulled hair and bit Greggory. Alec doesnt care much for attention so I dont think this is why he is tormenting the family. The only solution I have for Alec is to put him on his top bunk where he cant hurt anyone. That is ok but he can be up there most of the day on some days. Alec has also been very sick for the past 3 months and so I guess he is probably not in the best of moods either. Thanks for the suggestions. Jacquie H > > Alec is a terrorizing the house! Guest guest
I just happen to have a nonverbal, nonresponsive to punishment, awfully difficult child of a little more than three years who's as strong as most 4 year olds I've met... We threaten to punish, punish (to no effect whatsoever), and yell. Nothing. Our best approaches have been to first try hand-on-hand playing (literally holding his hands/arms and helping him share, doing all the verbal cues, etc. for playing nice). If he's not capable of cooperating with that, we just isolate him and distract him with something else that he likes, like a Dr. Seuss ABC book or toys that spin and ding... Good luck! > Alec is a terrorizing the house! He keeps beating on Greggory and > breaking things and is a royal pain in the butt! Guest guest
Thanks! We do alot of prompting with other things but probably not shring. Thats a good idea! We do isolate him but lately I feel like he gets isolated so much he is barely a part of the family and so I was hoping for some more suggestions. Thanks I will try them. Guest guest
Ron, thanks for the suggestion. I have to say that while ignoering things may work great for lots of kids unfortuneately it works for squat with my kids! AGHHHHHHHHHHHH! I wish it would. Alec will chase Greggory down like a hunter and attack him. He will sneak up behind people and get them too! Greggory of course cannot ignore Alec as he is in the middle of being abused and I am trying to teach Greggory to defend himself as he is a very passive child. The teachers at school tried extinctionm with Alec for some of his behaviours but he could care less. ~sigh~ Thanks for the help though. Guest guest
So, can he handle inserting a glycerin suppository on his own? When we have had that "stuck" issue- the glycerin suppositories provided instant relief. I think my eldest was 7 or 8 when she could handle inserting on her own...I believe embarrassment and desperation made her a quick learner.. So, we have a problem... my son has a huge poop he can't get out.. nothing new of course except that this time it's just not coming... I really could use some suggestions.. he's been sitting on the toilet for days and we've thrown out a few pairs of underwear from the constant leaking --he's wearing a pull-up now---(he's almost 9 and is embarrassed--of course) he has a close friend that we're picking up this weekend to stay for the week and we would like to get this done so there's no issues! He is absolutely terrified of enemas.. to the point that he has nightmares... so that is out of the question... not sure what to do next...I had given him a few extra doses of natural calm and i have mag citrate but I feel like that's not going to help because he's so blocked...any suggestions would be much appreciated! Guest guest
Hi! How many days has this been going on? You may want to consider medical intervention, at this point ....
